Hello, my name is Steve. Lizz, when was the last time it was Serviced ? Sounds like there may be a dirty Sensor in the compartment that makes contact with the toner container. They must make good contact when removing and installing. Vestiges of toner particles tend to be problem. Since toner is made op of color,Polymers, and metal , these create a problem. I would start with a cleaning and a Quote from a Qualified Service person. Steve
