GE Side by Side Refrigerator door dispensers power off
I have a GE Side by Side Refrigerator (GSS25MSSE), and when I try to use the door dispenser (water, crushed ice or cubes), it seems to power off. The dispenser indicator lights turn off, and nothing comes out of the dispenser. After about 3 seconds, the dispenser indicator light turns back on, but if I press against the dispenser switch it powers off again. It's almost as if an internal circuit breaker or fuse is re-setting every time I press against the door dispenser switch. There is no motor running or background noise, because it clicks and powers out.

Some have said that if you are fridge is still making ice, then your water line may be frozen. So you need to let it thaw out by leaving the freezer door open. Figure out somewhat to try and keep the cold air in by using plastic sheeting or something, until the line thaws. You can't dispense water with the door open, so reach up press the button that makes it think its closed and try to dispense the water..or just shut the door to test it out. I am going to try this when I get home today, because I am having the same problem on my GE model# GSH25JFTA BB.
Only way to find out is check the power going to the board. If present you are likely correct. The board is in the door behind the dispenser bezel. Eric
This could be as simple as the door switch or as complex as the dispenser control board. I would try the door switch first. When the door is close it turns on the dispenser controls. If the contact is defective in the door/light switch then this happens. Unplug remove the door switch and mark wire locations. 1 Powers the lights and the other powers the dispenser. and one is the power itself. Sea Breeze
I have the same problem with the same unit. I removed the ice tray and held the open door cut-off switch closed. I then pressed the lever to dispense ice. I hear a humm like power is getting to the motor but the motor is not turning. I hear a click like the selonid is engaging. I'm having to assume at this point it's the motor and I am going to go ahead and order a motor. I've found a motor for the unit at partselect.com for $65.54. Hope this helps you.
I fixed mine by leaving the light on the dispenser on. It took about 6 hrs, but the little heat from the light bulb was enough to defrost the water line.
