I cant figure out to have one ring tone for an incomming call and another for the same persons sms, is this possible. Also can you keep ypur number sending off all the time rather than for the next call only.
With Motorola, they made the software so that when you have a call and an sms from a person that has a custom ring tone, it will ring like that both ways. Thats a limitation in the firmware with no way around it. And yes, you can either call your carrier to block it by default on the network itself, or you can go to into the phone settings and toggle a menue called send caller id, and click off

GOTO SETTINGS . OR IF YOU MAY ALSO FIND PERSONALIZE . CLICK IT. GOTO TONE OR RING TYPE OPTION. HERE YOU CAN CHANGE THE TONE . IF YOU ARE SATISFIED PLEASE RATE THE ANSWER BELOW.
go to my profile and select the profile.And then again select the same profile.It show the option to change the RING TONE, SMS TONE,etc.......................
Press Menu
go to Settings and tools
then Sound Settings
then Call Sounds
then Call Ringtone
select the one you like.
Other way is on each contact, edit ringtone for that contact.
sms alert is by a feature used by your profile .. do you have it in meeting ? General ? etc; ... usually if your phone plays music or rings when someone is calling you should get a sms tone however sometimes this feature is disabled user error possible? check your manual
You can change the text message alert tones but you have to do it by accessing the phone's file system via a data cable connected to your computer. Goto lg-vu.com and search for text alerts and you'll find detailed instructions on how to do it.
You cant change the message tones to your own ones.
You have to use the 4 provided.... which is one of the bad things about this phone.
However you can change your incomming call tones to an mp3 one etc.
go to the contacts then go to the desired contact and give edit option there u can select photo to show when the person calls and then option called ring tone or ringer idselect the tone.... may be this option is only available only if you store the phone numbers in phone memory........
