This will be the fourth Z525a I will be sending back to Cingular (1-800-801-1101) for warranty replacement since Feb 15, 2007 when my 2 year contract started. Since I blindly thought they would have a good product I did not by the insurance. My concern now is that with such a poor product run what would be my options if it dies after the warranty period. With such high failure rates Cingular or Sony should extend the warranty period out for the full 2 years on these. Any info you have on this would be helpful. I have read the solutions posted here so you don't need to go over that again. Thanks and I found your website so helpful that before my next purchase I'll look here first. - Mr Zip with no Z525a
Sony Ericsson is a great product - the screen of death is normal because they have a poor software - it gets caused by taking off battery too fast, disconecting or connecting to usb cable and other reasons.
Worst for worst a simple flash should resolve - for the warranty - if the phone is over $300 then warranty is worth it, otherwise the 1yr free phones standard warranty should be ok, because they are usually cheap to fix.

I have the same screen problem on my 2nd z525a and no technical support. My wife took my daughter to the ATT store and the clerk opened it and closed it and gave them a number to call. I got on chat line with tech support and again call customer support to file a claim. This phone is not for a high use person that sends and recieves text. It seems that the opening and closing does something to it. It is not the ribbon cable because you can play around with it and get an image to appear until you hit the keyboard again. It is a software problem and the on off flip feature.
