Anti-flood device activated. How do I reset?

  • Anonymous Jan 13, 2010

Damian, thanks for the advice. I'd also seen this on other postings and tried a couple of times with little success. When I finally bit the bullet and removed the base cover from the machine I discovered a pin-prick leak in the sump connecting pipe. So I did have a leak after all - although very small and no water on the floor! Replaced pipe and reset switch and have had no problems since. So the switch was doing what it's supposed to do. Cheers

Got this tip from another board. Unplug and disconnect machine. Take machine out and tip 45 degrees to empty water in base of unit. Put everything back together. Thats it. Worked for me.

The anti flood device has activated on my AEG dishwasher????

If the anti-flood device has activated on your AEG dishwasher, it means that water has leaked into the base of the dishwasher and triggered the safety device. The anti-flood device is designed to prevent water damage to your home and shut off the water supply to the dishwasher.
To resolve this issue, you will need to locate the source of the leak and fix it. Here are the steps you can take:
  1. Turn off the dishwasher and unplug it from the power outlet.
  2. Disconnect the dishwasher from the water supply and move it away from the wall.
  3. Check the inlet hose, outlet hose, and drainage hose for any cracks, damage, or loose connections. Tighten any loose connections and replace any damaged hoses.
  4. Check the dishwasher door and gasket for any damage or debris that may prevent it from closing properly.
  5. Check the dishwasher's interior for any leaks, such as a cracked spray arm or a damaged pump.
  6. Once you have fixed the leak, you can reset the anti-flood device by tilting the dishwasher to one side to allow the water to drain out of the base. Then, level the dishwasher and plug it back in.
If you are unable to identify or fix the leak, it is recommended to call a professional technician for assistance.

Hi, my dishwasher is stuck draining and issuing the three beeps 'anti-flood' error with no sign of a leak? Is it possible to re set this?

you need to remove the bottom plate and clean up any water. it most likely means there is a leak in the gasket around the door and it tripped the flood sensor. the only way to reset it, is to deal with any water and dry it up and then power down and power up the washer.

More importantly I would look for leaks. Bad hoses or possible rubber that dried out and cracked. Maybe someone spilled water and it got on the sensor too. Either way , water is what causes that sensor to activate.

Hello

Most faults can be referred to the fact that the Anti Flood Overflow device has activated.

Modern day dishwashers like those manufactured that have a built in safety feature protecting the dishwasher against flooding. The technical term is 'Anti Flood Device'.

In the base of the dishwasher in the plinth there is a float switch. This is your 'Anti Flood Device'. In the event of your dishwasher over filling, the plinth fills with water, the float rises and actuates the switch.

Firstly, it will send a signal to the programmer device to notify there is a fault and output a message in the form of a code to some sort of display.

Secondly, the pressure switch acts as the water level indicator for the sump of the dishwasher so when the water level rises the pressure switch will activate the drain pump.

So before you consider throwing good money at new dishwasher, try doing a bit of fault finding your self and you might save yourself a ton of money.

THE anti flood device has been activated. I have emptied the salt tank, how do I reset the safety valve on the water inlet hose?

The answer is that you don't reset the anti-flood device. The anti-flood device re-sets itself when there is no risk of a leak. I don't really understand why you emptied the salt tank . . . ?

I cannot help you any further than this as you haven't specified your brand and model of dishwasher. If you can post these, I will try try to help further - if it's a model I support.

Whirlpool dihwasher adp 4552. Water comes into dishwasher, appears to start cycle then water is drained out again and light flashes to show a problem!

This is a typical anti flood activation due to the anti flood device (polystireen float and micro switch) at the base of the washer detecting a water leak / spill. This device puts the washer in pump out mode. Check to see if water at the base is causing the polystireene float to activate the switch. Dry the water and rectify the fault (normally a leaky pipe or pipe clamp) and this should solve the problem.

Need to know how to re-set the anti-flood device

I managed to clean the filter inside the dishwasher and drain a little residual water. I then re-plugged in the appliance and the anti-flood device seemed to reset and I have n't had any problems since.
