go to acer.com go to support and drivers and download the driver files for the touch pad again that should solve this issue. Follow instructions to the letter and off you should go again unless the touch pad is bad mechanically.
Make sure you input the correct laptop make and model when searching their files. The driver will be there.
Zooms in and out while on internet? -- this is a "feature", and it happens because of your use of the TOUCHPAD. Resolved with a "pinch" on the pad -- making your fingers come together to zoom in, pinching fingers apart to zoom out (like an Iphone map application)
One other option you may not know of is to hold the down button, and the back button at the same time. This will send the Zune into a deeper "off" state, and may reset your lock command.
If NO other options are working, you should probably try a "hard reset".
This means you will have to open the Zune itself up (you can find simple instructions for this fairly easily online) and pull a small plug out that connects the battery to the Zune itself. Don't worry, your music wont be deleted.
Check the Lock button. Push it all the way to the right, then all the way to the left. I'm continually having to do that w/ mine, even when the orange Lock symbol ain't showing. What do you mean by "tried to reset it"? By holding the Back button (on the left) and pressing the top of the Control Pad until you get the Zune logo? Try these steps. They may work.
The same thing happened to mine where just the touch pad doesn't work. It happened after a few monthes and to one of my friends as well; hers started working a day or two after and I had left mine alone once it stopped working but I went back to mine after she mentioned hers started working again and mine worked again too. I know that isn't much help because I don't know what fixed it but try just leaving it off for a few days and then going back to it.
After researching several blogs and forums on problems with previous versions of Zune
the general concensus was to allow the batteries to drain away and die completely,
and then try reconnecting.
This took about a day and a half, and when we connected the device to the PC
it must have "re-initialized" the controls as it booted up, all the features now worked.

Ok the solution is so simple your goign to kick your self. what you do is take you zune cable plug it into any thign other than your computer say a Nintendo Wii or PlayStation 2 or 3 leave it for a few minutes then unplug it and try to restart it if it dosent restart while its pluged in. if it dosent restart then plug it back in and let it set over night some times the battery is so dead that the computer cant pick it up but make sure your wii or Xbox or what ever is turned on .
My lock switch broke off. so with a paper clip I took off the little plastic under the switch. with that off, i could see the small black toggle switch and i was able to set that to the unlocked position. I cant lock my zune now but the zune works.
I found the solution. what you do is you plug your zune into your usb port and your zune home page will come up automatically. as soon as your computer reads it look in the top right corner and go to settings. then go to device. finally press erase all content.
when it is done your zune should be empty but it will scroll and work once more...im not sure what is wrong but i had this same problem with my i pod and this same solution fixed that problem also.
ZUNES ARE MUCH BETTER THAN I PODS, stay zune and proud.
