thanks WIZ , my friend did use the great info you have given . i offcourse lost all my info but atleast my ipod is back . A perfectly good site will use it often and suggest others do the same . It could save you much worry and sleep . The info was very systematic, even i could have followed it but was too afraid to goof around anymore . the apple ipod is a pretty compact but i guess its also very sensitive and unlike the computer does not have the undo button which saves me very often

    thanks ctf1800 too

You have to load the older version back on it!
plug it into your comp and iTunes will unlock it for you
This support document also provides additional information on locking and unlocking the iPod. According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the iPod by doing the following:
Connect your iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.
If you can't unlock iPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod.
If you want to change the primary computer that your iPod is associated with, do this:
1. Restore your iPod. Warning: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data.
2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.
3. Open iTunes and synchronize

Thanks for using Fixya!

This means that the battery had shorted out and its already bad. You need to replace the battery. You can buy replacement battery for your ipod from ebay. its around $10-$15.

Have a great day.

How load videos and phots in 80 gb ipod

iTunes is totally a freeware provided by Apple to help you synchronize your iPod with your computer.
But since iPod only support MP4, M4V formats, I think you may need software to convert videos. Here is a link to a step-by-step guide page:
Hope it helps.

Apple Ipod voice problem

i had the same problem with my ipod and the volume limit control had been set to playback at low volume...if you have the ability to change settings try this ; when ipod switched on , go down to "settings" and click on this and then select "volume limit" ; click on this and then use the wheel to set the maximum volume you wish to use ( i set it at about 80/100 to ensure no distortion) hopefully this will solve your problem
