Try changing the amount of time the fax machine rings before it answers to a low number... if that doesn't work try a reset... info on this page...

I have a blank line running down the left side of all my faxes and copies. I have changed the toner and installed a new drum. Still having the problem.

You most likely have toner on the roller, which should be just above or below the drum, clean this by spraying some window cleaner on a paper towel, or lintless rag, and rubbing the roller clean, make sure to get all foreign particles of roller before closing and trying to print.

We had a paper jam and I got the paper out but now the fax machine is printing out pages that are smeared with black toner

The fusing unit heat roller is damaged or worn out and it needs to be replaced. The roller has non-sticking teflon coating. When this coating is bad, toner start sticking to it and causing jams and bad copy quality.

REPEATED REAR PAPER JAMS-BROTHER INTELLIFAX 2820

Try making prints or copies with the rear door open. If it does not jam your fixing unit (hot area) is functioning properly. With the rear door closed try again making copies or prints. If it jams it's most likely the exit rollers acting up.

1. I've seen the exit sensor break on these units and sometimes the drive gears wear and do not feed properly.
2. If using after market toner or refills this may also coat the exit roller with a film which prevents the exit rollers from feeding parper out by reducing the friction of theses rollers. Clean with fantastic untill cloth does not turn black.

Lexmark x4270 fax machine receives faxes but won't feed paper

Hi,

Try cleaning the rollers in X4270 printer. You may need to clean the scan lens and the white roller.

1. Unplug the power cord and the phone line from the wall.
Open the control panel.
2. Pull the roller lever forward, and then lift the white roller out of the All-In-One.
3. Use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened with water to wipe the white roller and the scan lens.
4. Reinstall the white roller.
5. Reconnect the power cord and the phone line.

Next, try to make a standalone copy and let us know the results.

Vertical lines on the entire page

sorry, what actually happens is that there is a drum blade, it fails which lets toner go by instead of scrapping it off the drum, which results in rings around the drum and lines on tjhe copies

so yes you do have to buy one.

good luck
