The viewfinder on my Canon PowerShot SX20 is blurry while the LCD screen is fine. When I take pictures using the viewfinder they come out ok so the camera is focusing but not through the viewfinder.

Check the diopter adjustment on the left side of the viewfinder.

Can see through the viewfinder but not the lcd screen

On this camera the display will turn off when closed. There is a microswitch that controls this. If this switch is bad, the camera will think the display is closed. Have it checked

Canon Powershot SX20 IS camera...only 4 months old. The LCD display no longer works so I have to use the viewfinder. I bought the black tie protection warranty from Best Buy but they say I have to send...

I'd send an email to Canon, directly. Or call. You may be surprised to find that it could be covered by them, not Best Buy. I have three Canon cameras and I find that they have superior customer service. Quick and inexpensive - and sometimes at no cost. . Give it a try.

I have a canon powershot sx20..looking through the view finder looks blurry, but after takingt the picture and looking on the screen the picture does NOT look blurry...It's only blurry when looking through...

Your camera is equipped with a optical diopter that will allow you to adjust the optics in the viewfinder to your eye. meaning bringing everything into focus as it should. The way I use this (set it) is to let the camera auto focus on a subject and then turn the diopter until I see the subject clearly.
It really helps if the subject is about 12 feet away (get it real sharp) and the camera is mounted on a tripod. Once set I put a little dot of paper white out on the diopter adjustment knob so if it gets turned I know and can quickly return it to the correct spot. I'm including a diagram where this adjustment knob is on your camera, have fun.

Blurry Viewfinder on my Canon Powershot SX20 IS

There is a little dial to the left of the viewfinder that you can turn to adjust the focus of the viewfinder. This should solve your problem quite easily.

When using the viewfinder the image is blurry, however, the image is crisp when using the LCD monitor.

If the image is clear on the LCD and you can take sharp pictures, then your main optics and electronics are good. Your camera has an adjustable viewfinder. Check the manual to see how to adjust for your vision.

My new canon sx20 also is clear with LCD screen but blury when using view finder. Pictures are fine either way.

There is a small knob to adjust the image through the view finder.

Refer to the manual if you cannot find it.
