check the fuses and wiring of the circuit.

It could be the type of cables you're using. Are they balanced or unbalanced?

The jacks on the end will tell you what type of cable it is.

If the metal jack (plug) has 2 circles, it's a three-conductor plug (TRS or "tip-ring-sleeve"), which means the cable is balanced. It's meant for stereo connections.

If there's only 1 circle, the plug is two-conductor (TS or "tip-sleeve"), meaning the cable is unbalanced. It's meant for mono.

There's a 3rd kind, (TRRS "tip-ring-ring-sleeve). It has 3 circles, which makes it a four-conductor plug. The extra ring is specifically made for microphone connections in 1/8 in. This is the one you would want to use for a cellphone connection, for normal operation.

But because of what you're doing, the connections and cables have to have to be specific, otherwise you'll end up with lots of noise and interference. It's much easier if you have pictures to look at, that way it won't seem so overwhelming.

Yes... to get best noise performance use balanced TRS or XLR. ALSO power the speakers and this mixer from the SAME receptacle to avoid ground bounce and possible damage to the units.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you have nothing connected as an input, you're NOT going to hear anything. I assume you can't get your inputs to get to main output fader(s), if that being the case, first make sure your gain knobs are up at about 12 o'clock position, your channel faders are up to 0 and then make sure "channel assignment buttons" are assigned to stereo outputs.

I would suspect the power supply regulator MAY be thermally shutting down and then cools and restarts.

The 20 second interval almost has to be thermal to get the delay.

Use either an amp OR powered speakers. Make sure you use balanced lines to the external amp or powered speakers and power those from the SAME receptacle source as this mixer and any pwered devices connected to it for safety of the system.

The mixer is strictly a mixer. You would need to amplify to drive speakers. Used as a mixer it is fineand would support up to 4 mics.

It does have phantom power for use with condenser mics if needed.

Please use balanced lines (TRS) when connecting to the external amp.

I am sorry to disagree, but some information in the previous post is INCORRECT. DO NOT connect the output of the mixer to the MIC input. The mixer generates LINE level output that should go to the LINE-IN on the sound card. If you connect the mixer to the mic input, you will damage the sound card. MIC level inputs have an additional amplification stage.
