I received a smart pot for Christmas and am using it today for the first time. My old one was a lot smaller and had a tight lid seal. This lid is NOT tight, 1/8" of gap in several places. Is this normal for the new units? My old one is over 35 years old.
Hi, I have a Durabrand Slow Cooker and before that I had a Rosemary Conley one, both had loose fitting lids but this did not affect the cooking etc. I think that is the way they are meant to be. Use a non slip mat too as this may help, mine never vibrated even on high. Maybe you should get someone to look at it for you.

The lid does not fit tight and air and moisture seeps out and makes the lid vibrate. Had to put something on top to keep the lid down.
I got one after Christmas and was disappointed to find that my lid also did not fit tightly. I made a batch of soup in it, and when it was done, there was about an inch of "crust" that was cooked on the sides as if the soup had evaporated. I thought that the purpose of a crockpot was to keep the heat in......I miss my old crockpot that I had for 18 years before it gave out on me!!
I bought a Rival 6qt crockpot yesterday and returned it this morning because the lid doesn't have a good seal. You would think that the company would have a quality assurance department to inspect the product. It's not like there's a lot of moving part. Is there a crockpot out there that people can recommend. Would like to hear why you think the crockpot is a good one.
the lid doesn't fit tightly on my crock pot either and I've had the same problem with crust and drying of the food around the edges. Definitely not a tight seal like my old one. I don't want to spend any more money. Anyone have ideas on how to improve the seal?
