I can not "reset " the remote. we got a new tv and dvd player and i can't "clear" the remote to reprogram it

1. • 1 Find the brand of the universal remote you own on Internet sites like Remote.com (see Resources below).
     
   • 2 Click on your universal remote brand on the website to find the code list for that remote.
     
   • 3 Check to see if your remote is preprogrammed to operate your TV, VCR, or Cable Box using the following codes: TV - 000, VCR - 000, Cable Box - 000, AUX - use VCR code 037.
     
   • 4 Manually turn on your device. Hold down the "Code Search" button on your remote, then press and release the device button you want to set up until it flashes.
     
   • 5 Push the power button repeatedly until the device turns off, then hit "Enter."
     
   • 6 Press any other button while the device is on to see if the device responds. If it does, you don't need to do any other programming. If it doesn't, repeat steps 4-6.

Do you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch? If so try i-Got-Control and the IRB1 attachment. It has codes for the Star Choice built in and if you need others, you can always learn from the other remote you have. Try holding enter button and 1 together on the r/c for at least 3 secs

1. Verify connections are color coded.

2. If they are correct, take out movie, press Play/Stop at same time on the front of the unit (not remote) to reset any settings that may have been changed.

Let's try the easy one first:

• verify the connections, normally yellow for video, white & red for audio. TV has to be set to Video 1, A/V or Channel 0;
• in some instances, it could be a single coaxial cable. If it were so, the TV has to be set to Ch 3.

Forgotten Parental Control password can be bypassed/cleared by entering "788444" even if 4 digits "----" appears, then press ENT to clear the current password. You can then enter a new parental control password.
