The Mac and software is not the problem. The Sony DVD player is the culprit. Sony has some proprietary bullsh.t lock hardwired into their system to not play burned discs.

Go on e-bay and look for region free DVD players, which will play any disc like a champ. Sony is a good brand, but they are picky about playing certain discs. Re-gift this thing to someone during Christmas or sell it.

I made my slide show and it does great when I play it on the computer. I burned it to a DVD-R and when I play the DVD on a player it freezes and skips. Tried it on different players and still did the same....

Many computers can play many file formats,
BUT...
Not all DVD players can play all files.
What file format is the slide show saved as?
AVI?
Download a freeware conversion program (if you don't have one) and try another format.
My latest DVD player plays about six video formats, JPG images, but battles with AVI, due to it's many variations of format (dimensions, resolution, color, frame-rate, interleaving, etc).

I have burned an MP4 file (video) to a DVD-RW disk. It will not play on my DVD-player. What can I do to get it to play on the DVD palyer?

Some DVD players will not read rewritable disc's, others will not read mp4 format. If yours reads mp4s I'd try a different disc

How do I make my Blu Ray DVD Player region free?

Most of the time it\'s no the Blu-ray player, it\'s the crappy burned dvd you have. If you got it from out of the country then most likely the Blu-ray player just can\'t recognize the format or type of dvd the movie was burned onto. Best thing to try to see if it is the player or the dvd itself, is play the dvd in a laptop (not a mac because they don\'t play most things) but a Toshiba or a Samsung. The "region locked" error code is just the default displayed when you don\'t have properly formatted dvds.

I downloaded a movie on my computer. I burnt the disc and when I put it in the dvd player it says cannot play disc. I have a sony DVD Player. Any thoughts?

The exact model of DVD player matters. Not all models can play a Computer burned disc.
There are several types of DVD
A factory type DVD in DVD format
A burned movie in MPEG format
a burned disc in DivX format.
Etc.
Try burning the disc with a DVD Creator program, not just 'Burn to DVD'. It's not the same thing.

I burn a dvd from an iso using 2 different computers but they won't play on standard dvd players. only on computer or a portable player

'Standard' DVD players will not play computer video formats such as .AVI or .DIVX or .WMV or .MP4 whereas the 'generic' and cheaper (chinese) Players will support them (they will state that they support MPEG, DIVX and MPEG 3 & 4 formats).
Unless your ISO results in a properly DVD formatted media (with multiple files and file types including .DAT), it simply will not work.
Note that many 'standard' (and branded) DVD players will not support many rewritable CD or DVD.
Hope my information will help you assess your problem

Can i play Xvid files on my 622 dvd player? if not which kind of video files does it play?

Im assuming your talking about the Philips DVD 622. You cannot play any video files unless they are burned to a CD or DVD in the standard DVD format. It can play certain audio formats but cannot play different video formats.

A dvd+r disk I burnt using Nero7 will not play on my dvd player (the extention file of burnt file is .flv

Try converting the file first. Many converters are avaiable online. Assure that it can take FLV (Flash based files) and export as MPEG (or DVD standard) to maximize compatibility.

Found this in a search quickly:
AVS Video Converter is an all-in-one multimedia program for capturing, converting, editing, converting, transferring, burning DVD and movie files. It can convert FLV files to DVD, burn FLV to DVD, as well as convert FLV to all popular video file formats, and even extract MP3/WAV audio from FLV. Supports Youtube, Flash, Google FLV video files.

Good luck
