This sometimes happens when the camera has been dropped or even bumped too hard. If while using strap you hit conner of chair it can be just enough to cause this problem.

The s7000 has three different display modes: Screen, viewfinder, and off. Screen is for looking at the big screen, viewfinder is for looking through the digital viewfinder, and off should turn off all the displays. Try pressing the DISP button once. That should reactivate the screen and make it possible to use the camera again.
Hi! Probably the CCD is dead. It's a well known problem with S7000. It's a hardware problem, the CCD has to be changed. For S7000 it usually comes with the lens and it makes the repair quite expensive. It's about 250-300$ here. You should contact your local Fujifilm service center. I work in a camera service center authorized by Fujifilm.
Hi. If your camera is turning on with the lens stuck out. Turn the camera on, and without turning it off, open the battery door, and take the batteries out. Leave it for about 1-2 minutes and try again. This process is call power reset. Usually works. Good Luck.
