Missing Color. When you start the tv cold it starts missing a color. In dynamic the screen flickers horizontally with the same image only containing all the colors, if you are lucky 1 + 1 = 2 and all the color eventually "merges", though this only lasts for a couple hours. If 1 + 1 <> 2 the flicker eventually just stops and the missing colors remain missing. In Standard or Cinema the horizontal flicker is infinite and never ceases. I have removed the color wheel, it spins. I have tried removing the jumper CN810, color seems to be present after but it is not quite right, too bright, off color.

The color wheel may spin but if you hear noise when it spins it's bad. the jumper is used when replacing one type of color wheel for a nother type. so donot remove jumper unless you've replaced the color wheel and the picture is bad. if the color wheel is good replace the DMD board. if the DMD is not available replace the optical engine.

This CAN BE a defective panel, but most likely defective capacitors in the power supply section of your TV, and one that requires a good deal of soldering skills not to mention diagnostic ESR meters and capacitance measuring devices to troubleshoot this. Are you sure you're up to this?

It seems color wheel problem in your tv that gets problem after some time and you hear high pitch noise along with picture flicker.
Color wheel need to be replaced to solve this issue. Required color wheel is available with PartStore.com (click to view image of part and price info) and it is job of qualified tv repairman because light engine will take apart for that.

Monitor problem

Hi,

Appreciate the "Ask Me".

I am assuming that you have more than just familiarity with electronic components and circuitry, the use of a DVM and a soldering iron. Further, that you have access to a service manual.

Width problem is basically insufficient horizontal deflection, then analysis would have to be in the horizontal section. Areas to initially focus on:

12V line and pin 29 of IC401;
110 V peak to peak at collector of Q403, if yes check Q 402 & 404 as well as T401;
other components that affect the horizontal size are:

IC201
Q 405, 406, 407 & 408;
D409
L401

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Screen is black and white

You could have a color burst signal missing from the horizontal circuit. A color killer circuit problem or a croma processor circuit problem. If your not a tech, you should have this checked out by a pro, if you want to infest mony into a picture tube type set.
