I have cleaned all of the hoses...replaced the belt ...

... I do not know what to do next...this Vision Turbo is only a couple of years old and has given good service...up until now, when all of a sudden, the suction is completely gone when trying to vacuum the carpet...the hose works ok but not the brush-beater bar. Please help.

OK......the inlet is open; the brush roll is rolling; the bottom inlet is are so right, the nozzle asm (what I call the roller brush assembly housing) is NOT sitting anywhere near the carpet. I think there is something wrong with the height adjuster mechanism because I took the bottom plate off and tried to adjust the height and the dial turns on top, but does nothing on the bottom. I tried vacuuming with that plate off and it works like it did when it was new...would it hurt anything to leave it off? I hope I didn't cause some sort of irreparable damage... is there a way I can fix the adjuster mechanism? when the plate is in position, it holds the the roller brush housing so far off the carpet that nothing gets sucked up. I would gladly sacrifice the height adjuster if I could be sure it wouldn't hurt anything. Thanks so much for your sure made a difference!!!

My husband kept telling me to take it to the shop or buy another one...He is too impressed with this site and saving the money it would have taken to repair or replace it.

    Again...Thanks!!!!! Rj

Check the inlet down by the brush roll, it is probably clogged. You might change the belt also if you never have, I am sure it is stretched.

If you have suction at the hose, then the problem has to be at the nozzle asm. I assume that the brush roll is turning? Is the nozzle asm. sitting on the carpet like it should? If you drop something like a marble down the bottom inlet, does it come out the other side?

The height adjuster is only so that you can raise it up or down as needed on a carpet. If it vacuums ok without lugging the motor or brush roll, then it shouldn't hurt to use it that way. Either something broke then or it is out of place. But don't know without looking at it. But if it does ok on your carpet, then just use it that way.

My dirt devil has no main suction

You need to go a bit deeper in the unit to get what is clogged. it is most likely clogged on the inside of the unit. Take off the back and remove the inner workings following the path of the suction. Not hard to do just sucks.

The brush doesn't rotate on the turbo tool. the belt on it isn't broken it just seems really stiff to turn by hand as well

The belt doesn't have to be broken to be bad. Even if it is stretched or worn it will not turn the brush roll properly. Here is the belt you need and the manual which has instructions:

When I turn on the vacuum it's blowing air out no suction

It's clogged. Clean the hose path and either clean or replace your filters.

Brush does not spin

I thought my belt went bad....which it did, however there was another issue....The brush was not turning freeley, and would hardley turn at all, which caused my belt to go bad. Apparently, there are sealed bearings in the brush that you can not get to. If your brush will not turn, you can either spend some $$ and get a replacement. I opted to spend some time on mine, and soaked it in some Mr. Clean and water. I then sprayed brake part cleaner into both ends, and re soaked it. I then put some dish soap on either end and freed up the bearings. In between each of the steps I described above, I would try to work it by hand. I have not had a problem since, and saved some $$ too! Good luck and hope you get the same results I did;-)

Cleaned hair/string buildup around beater bar , put everything back in place now vacuum makes knocking noise and has that burning rubber smell.

This sounds like the beater belt is slipping and may be due to the fact that the beater brush is not secured correctly or there is debris / grease build up inder the belt. Try cleaning it with Methylated Spirit and repalce the belt. Do not clean the belt with this. Also do not use Surgical Spitit as it leaves an oil residue. If the belt is still a problem then replace it.

"brush bar spins erratically"

Belt needs to be replaced, it has stretched to the point that under load, it won't turn the brush roll like it should, so I would advise replacing the belt. And while you are doing that, check the brush roll and make sure the ends turn freely, if not, then replace it also. Then check the dirt inlet while you have the brush roll out.
