This morning my kindle screen is showing shadows even when off; when on only part of the text shows at the bottom of the screen. Is it possible to break something in the screen as I was listening text to speech last night and this morning bumped it and heard a weird noise.

Turn Off Kindle Fire Accessibility - Love My Fire

Try swiping your finger across the middle of the screen from right to left. This action turns the page forward. Swiping your finger across the middle of the page from left to right turns the pages backwards. I don't think the icon on the bottom is for page turning.

Did you turn the Kindle Fire on immediately after inserting the charger?
The battery may be so low that it will not operate until after it has charged for more than 24 hours.
If that is the case, it is also possible that the battery life has been permanently compromised and won't last long even if you finally get it to work.

It is also possible that the charging port on the bottom edge of the Kindle Fire has been damaged...possibly from forcibly inserting a charging cable upside down. If the port is damaged, the cable would not make contact properly and would not charge.

Try deleting your current books and then re-syncing. Your files seem to be corrupted during download.

Coby sent this to me asking for my solution, But I'm the one who asked the question in the first place and I still haven't found or gotten a solution.

Try to power up your Kindle with a different battery. there's a little pinhole at the bottom. insert a paper clip to do a hard reset. Or remove the battery and re-insert it to the same effect.
