Your frig should be properly leveled left to right and front to back when it was installed. If it is done correctly, when you open the door it should stop where-ever you stop it and it should stay there until you close it. If it swings either closed or open when you let go of the handle, it's not level. The door stop is there to keep the door from opening too far.
There is a self closer stop mechanism under the door between the door and the hinge, The door must be removed by removing the top hinge and lifting off the lower hinge flip the door and you will see a plastic piece which is probably broken there is also a piece on the hinge . Both should be replaced
Hi,
The fridge needs to be leveled better...
When the doors swing open then gravity takes over and pulls the doors open the rest of the way...
to fix this adjust the legs of the fridge so that it leans just a bit away from the hinge side and back just a bit...then the doors will swing closed by themselves...
The back legs may have to be shimmed and the front leg adjustments are usually right behind the front cover at the floor...sometimes there are screws there to adjust the back legs from the front also...
It sounds as if your fridge is leaning forward and the weight opens the door to quick and to far, try to get it level and then it will only open as far as you open it.
Check the lower hinge of that door for a broken closer cam. The upper hinge is adjustable and adjusting the corners in the front will shift the cabinet to align the door also. Eric
The GE side by side refrigerator has 2 cams on the bottom hinge that helps shut the door. If the cam wears out then the door will not close properly. One of the cams is riveted to the hinge assembly and an extra cam is shipped with it. The cam assemblies can easily be replaced by using the information on the Partselect.com website that refers to the GE TFX22R refrigerator.
the door stop on the bottom of your door is either bent or broken off. this si located on the hinge side on the bottom of the door the part number needed to repair it is WR02X11465 you will have to empty and remove the door from the refrig to replace the part. it is a fairly easy do it yourself fix. good luck and thanks for using FixYa Peyton
