Make sure you start with the OS disk. Restart your computer with that disk in and then boot from that disk. If your computer doesnt auto boot from the disk go into the bios and set the boot order to cd first. Then follow the on screen instructions. Onces your done installing windows you can use the application and driver cd to install all the drivers.

How to factory reset without recovery disk

When you need to recover part or all of the files on your Acer Veriton M460 desktop computer, Acer makes it easy to do by offering a built-in recovery program called eRecovery Management.
This option uses clean operating system files, usually stored on a separate partition of your hard drive, to correct errors or return the system to its original factory settings.
You can also use this program to write separate hard copies of the eRecovery program onto CDs or DVDs in case of hard drive failure.
Create Backup Disks

If your M460 did not come with separate recovery disks, and many machines don't in recent years, you can create your own through "Acer's eRecovery Management" program located under the "Start" menu.
Click on "Backup," select "Create Factory Default Disk" and follow the on-screen directions.
The program will inform you of the number of CDs or DVDs you need and help you through their creation.
Recovery with Disks
To use your created disks for recovery, place the first disk in the optical drive and reboot the system. As it boots, hold the "ALT" key and tap "F10" repeatedly until the computer boots and you see a screen titled "Starting Acer eRecovery."
You will see three options for recovery: to factory default, from user backup or from CD/DVD. Choose the option you desire and follow the on-screen directions to initiate the recovery sequence.
Recovery from the Hard Drive

Since Acer places the eRecovery Management program directly onto the computer, you can run the recovery option while in your desktop.
Open the "Acer eRecovery Management" program under the "Start" menu and click "Restore." You can choose to restore the computer to factory defaults and lose all the personal data stored on the hard drive or only restore the operating system and leave your data intact.
Select "Yes" on the confirmation screen and then "OK" to start the program.
Recovery Vs. Restore
When performing computer problem solving, the term "recovery" is often used interchangeably with the word "restore."
In some cases, "recovery" can mean to simply correct problems, such as replacing corrupted operating system files with good ones.
The term can also refer to "recovering" the system to its fresh-from-the-factory state, which is what "restore" means as well.
Restore Drivers or Applications

Acer's eRecovery Management program also offers the option to reinstall drivers or applications, which could become corrupted or damaged over time.
This option allows you to replace the current drivers for your Windows operating system with the ones originally installed on your system.
Under the "Restore" tab of the "Acer eRecovery Management" program, click "Reinstall Drivers or Applications" to see the content list and select the files you'd like to recover.

How do you go about to format a toshiba l650 and reinstall windows 7

Hi! If you have the Windows 7 disc just insert it restart the computer. It will boot directly from the disc. Then follow the step by step instructions here.
If you don't have the Windows 7 disc, you have two ways to reformat your Toshiba computer.
Using Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility from the recovery partition
In case of a hard disk drive failure, you may be able to restore the drive to the factory default state using the on-disk Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility (in a special partition on the hard disk drive).
You can select restoring the entire hard disk drive to the factory default state, or restoring only the C: drive -- without affecting other partitions (for example, a D: drive) -- or changing the size allocated to your C: drive, and then restore it.
To recover your hard disk drive from a system failure using the utilities stored on your computers HDD, follow these steps:
  1. If the computer is running, shut it down -- by clicking Start, Shut Down, and again Shut Down.
  2. Press and hold the 0 (zero) key on your keyboard and then press the computers power switch. When the computer turns on, the Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility screen will appear, presenting three options:

Restore Original Factory Image (Recommended)
CAUTION:
Restoring a hard disk drive to its factory default state deletes all partitions on the hard disk drive and all data stored on those partitions. All of your files and information will be lost! Be sure to back up all important files first.
  1. Press 1 to restore your hard disk drive to its original factory default state. A confirmation message will appear, indicating that all data will be overwritten and lost during the restore process. Be sure to back up all important files before proceeding.
  2. Click Yes to begin the recovery. A message will appear once the operation is finished, indicating the HDD has been restored.
  3. Press any key to restart the computer.
* The options 2 & 3 are for advanced users.
Hard Disk Drive Recovery using Recovery CDs or DVDs
You may also wish to to run the Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility from Recovery CDs or DVDs that you have created.

Insert the first Recovery CD or DVD into your CD/DVD drive, and turn on the computer. Once the computer is running, the TOSHIBA HDD Recovery Utility screen will appear, presenting the same three options above. Again Press 1 to
restore your hard disk drive to its original factory default state. Click Yes to begin the recovery. Press any key to restart the computer.

Installing Drivers and Applications
The TOSHIBA Application Installer allows you to reinstall the drivers and applications that were originally bundled with your computer.
To reinstall drivers and applications:
  1. Double-click the "Toshiba Application Installer" icon on the Windows desktop. This utility may also be launched by clicking Start -->All Programs --> Hard Disk Recovery Utilities.

    htd7c02140000r0136067.jpg

  2. Click "Next".
  3. Click the item(s) you wish to install. To select multiple items, hold down the Ctrl key as you click your selections.
  4. Click "Install".
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation process.

Hope this helps.

I have a spywhere infection on my advent laptop how do i resore to factory settings?

Using the HDD Recovery System
Your Advent computer uses the latest recovery system that doesn't require any CDs or DVDs to restore your PC to it's original factory condition.

There are two ways to start the recovery -
Restart your computer. Then Press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting System Recovery" is displayed.
In Windows by clicking: Start / All Programs / System Recovery / System Recovery.
The recovery will load and display a box with one option:
Non-destructive recovery: this option will restore Windows, supplied applications, and drivers. This option will not destroy your documents or programs. These will be backed up along with the registry. These are restored at the end of the recovery process.
To access the recovery options below that erase all data from the computer, click the Advanced button.
System Recovery - No format: this will reinstall Windows, supplied applications and drivers. It will move your files to a folder called "My old disk structure". Any applications (except those supplied) will need to be reinstalled.
System Recovery - Quick format: this option will erase your hard drive including your personal files. Windows, supplied applications and drivers will be reinstalled.
Select the Non-destructive recovery option and press Next.
You will be informed about System Restore in Windows, click Yes.
The recovery will begin. Once this is complete click Restart.

I want to clear my computer want to take everything out and reinstall install everything

Back up your data.
First and foremost, it is absolutely necessary to backup any data you want to save. Usually, reformatting and recovering a Dell system will result in the complete loss of any data added to the hard drive after it shipped from the factory. The usual place for personal data to reside in the My Documents folder. You can burn this info to CD/RW, or if you're on a LAN network, you can transfer the data from the Dell PC to another computer nearby. Do not forget to backup your Favorites folder and your Outlook or Outlook Express files--otherwise your address book and contacts will be lost
Locate the Recovery Media
Most Dell computers will also have shipped with a software box that contains several types of media. This is the Windows CD and the various application CDs you will use to revert the system. If you cannot find these CDs, you'll need to visit the Dell website and navigate to the support section. Drivers are normally stored on their online database for quick recovery.
Installing XP on a Dell System
When you reboot with the Dell XP CD in the drive, you will come to this screen. It gives you the option to repair the installation or continue reinstalling a fresh copy of the Operating System. The repair will generally preserve your data and attempt to fix any corrupt or missing data. If you decide to proceed with reinstalling the Operating System, all data will be wiped from the drive.
To perform the repair, simply press R and the system will attempt to replace those corrupt files.
To install a fresh copy of Windows on your Dell computer, press the ESC key.
Once the install is complete, you will need to add the the driver disks one at a time until all hardware has been successfully installed.
You will then need to use the application CDs to recover any applications that came preinstalled on the system--such as MS Works, MM Office, Quicken, etc...
