I have a labtec verse 504 always worked perfectly and isn't that old. My sound system and speakers seem to be working fine, I was going to record something into my sound recorder that comes with windows but the mic wasn't working and the recorder is fine.

The only thing I did different was that I had upgraded to Millenium 2000 from windows 98 SE and then went' back to windows 98 SE and when I tried my mike it is dead. I tried everything with the sound controls and checked back of computer made sure all was plugged in correctly, cleaned the end of the connector for any dust and nothing. I can only assume the mic is no good what else can it be?

I just bought a used Verse 504 Labtec but I don't know how to see if it works. I've never owned a mic before.

If you are using skype, go to the upper left hand top and click on call. Then click on audio settings and make sure your microphone is listed as the mike to use in the window of the drop down menu. It should say logitech something in the window that says microphone.

Does my labtec verse 504 take a driver?

Depening on what operating system you are running, no it will not need a driver. Just plug it in and it will work. Please make sure you rate my answer 4 thumbs if possible, it would help me a great deal. I would be forever grateful!

Thanks

I hooked up to a different computer and it is not working

The microphone input is probably not on. Go to Start ->Control Panel -> Sound Audio ->. Depending on your OS there is a control for the mic volume

Mic hooked up, but doesn't work?

You have to turn on the mic. volume. It always automatically turns off when you turn on the power again. Or, you can press the gain button (white button). Good luck!

Labtec Verse 524 Consumer Microphone

Almost all desktop microphones for the computer are not amplified (which means that they do not have their own power source). Instead the computer's sound card provides the amplification for the microphone. All you need to do is plug it in, and you're all set.

Microphone does not record sound after connected to pc

Did you check the Device Manager to make sure the audio drivers are installed and the audio device is working fine?
Apart from that, the sound recording settings in Vista should be set correctly to select the mic as the audio input device (it might be set to "Line in" instead), and to set the recording levels high enough.
