Our GE Profile Arctica will not make ice cubes.

Only one "cube" slot fills ( partially) with water, and the machine spits out that one ice cube at a time..then the "chute" starts freezing up. Unit is 4 years old.

You have 2 problems .
1 . the water valve is not letting enough water in . Pt # WR57X10032 . This is located on the back of the refrig , where the wall water line connects to , on the refrig .
2 . The dispensor flap door , is not closing completely , to seal off the warm outside air , thereby , causing frost on the inside dispensor area , and , on the bottom of the ice dispensor bucket . The usual cause , is the door flap solenoid , pt # WR62X10055 . The plunger , which comes with the solenoid , usually rusts , causing the flap not to close completely .

Ge profile fridge side by side makes only 8 ice cubes per day

Good day,
Assuming the temperature in the freezer is normal. 10 degrees or less. then it should be one of the 3 items here.
1. Partially plugged filter.
2. Water valve in the back bottom of the machine failing to open properly.
3. Partially blocked supply line from the house or it's connection fittings which ar more common than the line itself.

As well, if the water fill valve has a small leak on the off cycle, the fill tube running from the outside back of the machine that supplies water to the ice maker cavity may have ice starting to cause a blockage.

Our GE Profile side by side refrigerator is making hollow ice cubes and the water dispenser comes on by itself sporadically for about 3 seconds a few times a day. Over night it filled a whole glass of...

Hello. Hollow cubes is caused when there is not enough water going into the ice cube molds. That said, since you have too much water going into the water dispenser I would suspect that the valve needs to be cleaned or possibly replaced. Joe

My ice maker is frozen..the ice comes out not in cubes but as a huge chunk of massive ice in the white bucket part

If this is a crescent cube maker, then either the mold heater is cracked, the fill switch is broken, the water fill hose and water guide are broken or mislocated, the refrigerator not sitting level, or an incorrectly adjusted fill level.

Arctica won't make ice; ice was frozen solid yesterday. After removing, it won't make any more ice cubes.

As long as the ice trays are filling with water, it's not actually the function of the ice maker to make ice. Ice simply forms because the freezer compartment is cold.

The icemaker's function is to sense when ice is formed in the trays and to dump the ice into its container.

This requires the use of a thermostat to sense the water/ice temperture and 'tell' the icemaker when it's time to dump the ice.

During the dump cycle, a heater briefly comes on as the arm swings through the ice cube compartments to assist in loosening the ice cubes and make them easy to dump.

If the icemaker is filling with water but you get no ice, I suspect that either the control circuit (thermostat, relays, and wiring) is not 'telling' the heater to come on, or the heater is burned out.

Some units also have a timer circuit such that both the timer contacts and the thermostat contacts must be close in order to initiate a dump cycle (i.e., it must be time to dump and the water in the cubicles must be frozen).

A skilled homeowner could make these repairs, but if you don't feel comfortable taking your icemaker apart and testing the components, I advise leaving the job to a qualified repairman.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Ice cube shape

hoshizakis make ice cubes depending on the amount of water in the sump. if you are starving for water the sump only partially fills in the fill time allowed . then it makes ice until the water is used up and the float switch drops and the cubes are little slices. you can adjust the size of cubes you want by raising or lowering the float assembley in the sump. if its to low the water rises and the float rises and tells the machine you happy with little slices. if you raise it up to max height you can max fill before float satisfies and max ice cubes. But if you are starving for water the time to fill will run out before the sump fills and cubes will be small no matter where you set the floats assembly. water starving can be due to crud in the water line, to small a water line, most hoshizes take a half inch line ,or a clogged water filter. if you suspect a filter take it out . if fill is drastically improved you need a new filter. be aware that starving for water on a hoshizaki will eventually lead to broken evap plates. big time expensive.good luck. i put in a new machine ruined by starving water and the new one made little chips of ice real quick. i finally pulled the filter out and voila! big cubes and great production.
