I have images on my sony handycam dcr dvd205 of my sons 2nd birthday which I want to transfer to my laptop. However I think I have reused the disc without unfinalising it and whilst the pictures of his birthday are on the camcorder, when I put the disc into my laptop it shows me the old pictures that I had before which I have since deleted on my handycam. The unfinalise button and the finalise button are both greyed out so it looks like my only option is to format which would be such a shame. There is no usb port either which would have worked I believe. Is there anyway you can help?
Deleting files from camcorder is just like clearing the recycle bin or Trash onyour comptuter. The data itself isn't deleted, just the area containing the deleted data is also now marked as free space so it is available for any new data to be written there instead. So a simple delete won't make your videos erased permanently.
As a result, you have chance to retrieve those deleted videos as long as the video data on your camcorder(memory card or hard disk) are not written over. And the best way is to try some video recovery software, recommended Asoftech Data Recovery as it helped me before, the program can also recover photos and music.
video photo recovery program
First of all you need to install the program on your computer, then connect your camcorder (memory card or HDD) to the computer and start to recover your deleted videos.
You have to try photo recovery software to help, here are some photo recovery programs you may rely on. Both programs can also recover video and music files.
Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)
A Tip: Before your photos are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the camcorder memory card in case the original files(your photos) are overwritten.
