My brench of camara name Powershot SD1300is digital. when i turn on with my canon camara i see lens error will shut down outomatic restart camara.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

Lens error. restart camara

  • taking the battery out for a couple of minutes and trying to open the lens again, or
  • banging the living hell out of the thing on a hard surface to see if that will knock some sense into it.

  • those listed above are the two most common fixes for lens errors like that.

    sounds odd but alot of people have had their cameras fixed from the bottom of the two I personally have not tried it but think if something just needs to be re adjusted im sure it would help

    did you by any chance here any grinding on it when it was going in and out?

    Canon would suggest the following "send in for repair or buy a new one" so hopefully one of those above helps.

    let me know

    Thanks

    Lens error, restart camara issue in SD900

    Hey GeorgiaPlum,
    What is most likely happening is there is damage to the lens or the lens mechanism and you should have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. I will say that digital camera repairs often exceed the value of the camera, but it can't hurt to get an estimate done. I hope this helps!

    Sincerely,
    Allan

    Lens Error

    It is just telling you to try to turn the camera off and back on. This usually doesn't self correct and will need to be serviced. I would call Canon for support and see what the options are for service or upgrade.

    Hope this helps!
