With your dishwasher empty, roll out the bottom rack. The feed line for the upper spray arm runs from a pump outlet directly behind the lower spray arm spindle. This tube runs up the back wall of the dishwasher and mates with the upper rack when it is pushed in.
This feed tube simply snaps into place in the bottom of the machine. It is a high pressure line that makes an immediade 90-degree bend towards the rear of the unit. They have a tendency to pop out. When and if it does pop out you get almost no water coming out of the upper arm and you lose effective pressure in the lower arm, too. The cure is to push that feed tube back down firmly into the port until you hear it snap into place. While you have the lowere rack out it is a good idea to clean the intake screen out and check for any debris in the intake well.
Make sure the center loading is not obstructing the water jet to the top shelf. Top shelf is only for glasses and saucers , use Jet-Dry .Pre rinse and clean bottom pan strainer from dirtdebris.
Make sure that that upper arm is free to turn. Check it while you have dished installed, because sometimes, dishes on the lower rack may stick up too high and hit it. Otherwise, check the back of the water-supply tube attached to that upper rack.... Is it lining up with the water feed port or hole at the backof the dishwasher? Is there a gasket that is either ripped or missing? And check that wash arm carefully.... Might it be split or bent? Are the holes on the bottom clear? (Those holes are usually angled to push the arm around; if they are clogged, the arm won't rotate.)
The top rack is not cleaning because of low water pressure from the wash motor to the upper spray arm. Assuming the top spray arms are clear of debris, remove the lower spray arm to access the wash motor. Remove the 4 torx screws and the filter (accumulator assembly). Remove the torx screw and the inlet protector that covers the chopper assembly. Make sure the chopper is not broken (broken chopper will fill with debris and block water flow). While holding the chopper blade, reach inside the "D" shaped opening on top of the motor and spin the wheel/motor by hand in each direction to make sure either the chopper gear or the motor gear that drives the chopper is not broken. Replace the chopper if necessary . If the motor gear is broken, replace the sump and motor assembly . Remove any debris from the sump area in the process. You don't have to shut the power off to the dishwasher because the door will be open, but if you feel more comfortable, do so.
Check to make sure the upper wash arm is not plugged with debris. All Plates on the bottom rack and bowls on the top. Position the arm at 12 o'clock and check at the end of the cycle to see if it has moved positions.
Hi: I just posted a similar problem, but found a solution. After taking the arm, etc. apart (and verifying no blockages), I thought maybe the lack of water pressure was being caused by the fact that there are TWO holes for the top spray arm (higher and lower rack setting) on my model. ie. that water was being forced out of both holes, causing a drop in water pressure, which was causing the top spray arm to stop spinning. I plugged the unused hole with a wine bottle cork (to keep the water from spraying out the unused hole), and voila, it now works.
Test by pulling out the lower rack and run an upper load, it may just be a loading issue. Some washers are better than others, in that they have stronger moters and impelors than others. The impellor may have something like a fork, knife, or broken glass in it.
if youve acess below the filter screen ther is only 2 more screws holding down 2 more covers giving you acess to the chopper assy, this is where youll find broken glass and stuff hitting against hte chopper try to break up.. the first of 2 covers lifts right off,,, the second will require sorta prying up and off, beyond this no real acess to any more
