Hey, do you mean that no picture comes to the screen when you power it on?

If so there is most likely a hardware issue, you should take the laptop to a local repair service, or get it warranty repaired.

I cannot find the recovery media download for a Acer travelmate 290 laptop

relic PCs with CDrom and no DVD drive ! 15 years old today, Id trash it and upgrade. Buy loptop 2010 or newer, and WIN! well we test the hDD first. installing any OS made is going to fail if the HDD is bad. we test the hdd, in all cases, or a full day can be wasted doing the impossible. thick of HDD as bucket. some are good, some are dead.(missing ) or some leak. like bucket with rust holes in the bottom, see? test 1 is does the hdd spin, heard? test 2, does the HDD show up in your BIOS. if not, it is dead. test 3, if above ok we run linux boot media,in demo mode. and then run the DISKTEST. with no DVD drive, you need to use old linux, boot CD. if the PC was upgraded to DVD use the DVD boot. http://www.pcdied.com/linux.html#Noobs

ACER ASPIRE ONE D250-1151 recovery discs

Hi, you can try the following process:
RESTORE COMPUTER TO ITS ORIGINAL SETTINGS WITHOUT RECOVERY CDs

This process will restore the c:drive with the original software that is installed when youpurchase your netbook. follow the steps to rebuild the c:drive which will be reformatted.

Check the BIOS settings
-Make sure the acer d2d (disk to disk) recover setting in MAIN is ENABLED
-Exit the BIOS and save changes. the system will reboot.
- Activate the BIOS by pressing the F2 key as your computer starts up.

TO START THE RECOVERY PROCESS (here's where it didn't do anything)

-Start the system
-While the acer logo is showing, press alt and f10 at the same time to enter the recovery process.
-Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery

Hi,

I believe you're having problem with the Operating System on your computer. Unfortunately, Lenovo will not provide a product key for the Operating System since the an OEM version. What you can do is reinstall the Operating System using the One Key Recovery Sofware or the Recovery Disc that came with the computer. Follow these steps for you to be able to reinstall the Operating System using the One Key Recovery.

1. Turn off the computer.

2. Press the little button near the power button, it usually do have a drawing of an icon that looks like a horse shoe or a headset.

3. There will be a window that will appear which do have three option, One Key Antivirus, One Key Recovery and System Setup. Choose One key Recovery.

4. There will be another window that will appear which do have two option, Restore from initial backup and Restore from user backup,Choose Restore from initial back up

5. It will asked you if you want to continue, Just click on OK or YES.

6. Once done, Reboot the computer.

For Recovery Disc,

1. Insert the disc inside the drive.

2. Turn off the computer then turn it back on and keep on tapping F12

3. There will a window that will appear which do have three options, HDD,ODD/DVD/CD, and NAT, choose ODD/DVD/CD

4. It will asked you to press any key immediately, you will need to press any key immediately so that it will boot from ODD.

5. It will asked you to choose a partition, choose Disc 0 partition 1

6. Reboot computer once done.

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa...

Good day sir/ma'am, my problem is that every time I open my laptop, there's a blue screen flashing when I'm about to enter Windows. after that quick flash of blue screen, my system is quickly restarting....

Hi, this is clearly a corruption in Windows itself. I would recommend running your HDD based recovery (if you have one), or run the recovery discs that you got with your laptop. This will however delete all of your personal files. You can backup your hard drive before doing this by purchasing an appropriate HDD enclosure for your hard drive and plugging it into another laptop or desktop PC. Once you have done this, then run your recovery discs (or HDD based recovery). If you provide the model of your laptop, I can elaborate further. Hope this information helps

When i try to restore my toshiba sattlite with factory recovery disc it shows a error message at the end. 10-fc10-0017

Hi friend,

I think the problem is with the HDD possibly some corrupt partitions.
So it would be advisable and recommend to format the HDD.
Usually this should be done using the Toshiba Recovery DVD but try to format the HDD using an original Windows XP CD.

After HDD was formatted try to start again using the Toshiba Recovery DVD. Note: If it does not work then this is time to change your hard disc :( ... but no other way.. idunno..

You need to set your CD/DVD/CDRW Disk Drive to Boot First. If the Second set of Recovery CD's don't work, Then they are the Wrong one's for that unit.

Application error when running recovery disk

hi

Did you create any partitions on the HDD?
Obviously the HDD or some partitions on the HDD are corrupt.
In my opinion, you should firstly try to format the whole HDD and delete also whole partitions.
Then insert the recovery CD and try to install the Toshiba image

Hello Humanold,

Please check the following recovery steps:

Full recovery by using recovery partition:

1. Reboot the notebook PC.
2. Keep tapping F11 when the Compaq logo displays.
3. When the Recovery Manager appears, click Next.
4. When prompted to use the Microsoft System Restore program, select No and click Next.
5. When prompted to use the System Recovery, select Yes and click Next.
6. Select the option to perform the recovery without backing up files and click Next.
7. Upon completion of the process, recovery will display "The PC Recovery was successfully completed".
The recovery process will return your PC to the factory image.

Full recovery by using recovery disks:

1. Open the disc drive door and turn off the PC.
2. Insert the first Recovery disc in the disc drive and close the door.
3. Press the power button to turn on the PC.
4. The HP Recovery Manager window appears during the boot process.
If the HP Recovery Manager can access the hard drive, a prompt is displayed to backup the user files before continuing the recovery.
If the HP Recovery Manager cannot access the hard drive to fix the system errors, the HP Recovery Manager will overwrite all the data and reconfigure the entire hard drive to its original condition.

5. Follow the prompts to insert any additional recovery discs in the disc drive.
