Hello, I have the Acer 2480 Series Laptop and I downloaded Internet Explorer 8 on it It slowed my computer down and then I uninstalled it not knowing that it would take some of my files for Internet Explorer off. Now I can only get into Internet explorer and the other servers on my computer can't get into anything. I was advised to wipe the system clean and start over. How do I do that and how do i recover the programs that came with my computer if I don't have the start up disk. I do have a Resource Cd, would that be the same?

You can simply "uninstall internet Explorer from your computer if you have Windows 7 Click the Start button type Programs and Features in the search box, and then click View installed updates in the left pane Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 9, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.

You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 8 if it is set as not removable. This occurs if you install Internet Explorer 8 before you install Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Windows XP. If this scenario applies to you, then you must uninstall SP3 before you can uninstall Internet Explorer 8.

To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, follow these steps:

1. Close all programs.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. Click Add or Remove Programs.
4. In the list of currently installed programs, click Windows Internet Explorer 8, and then click Remove.
   
   NOTE: If Windows Internet Explorer 8 does not appear in the list of installed updates, try the alternative step given below.
5. Follow the instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
6. When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.

ALTERNATIVE STEP:

To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, follow these steps:

1. Carefully select and then copy the following command: %windir%\ie8\spuninst\spuninst.exe
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type Cmd.exe, and then press ENTER.
4. Right-click inside the Cmd.exe window, and then click Paste to paste the command that you copied in step 1.
5. Press ENTER to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
6. When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.

1. Close all programs.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. Click Uninstall a Program under the Programs category
4. In the Tasks pane, click View installed updates.
5. In the list of installed updates, double-click Windows Internet Explorer 8.
6. In the Uninstall an update dialog box, click Yes.

Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.

7. Follow the instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.

just download trojan remover from www.filehippo.com and try out i think this sort out yoour problem. Or just repair your window with a window boot cd.

I will suggest you to uninstall internet explorer 8 using add/remove programs and disable unnecessary addons in internet explorer 7..

if u have xp u can go to add and remove progams to remove it but if u have vista do this To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, go to Control Panel , and click on Uninstall Programs link or Programs and Features icon. Then on Tasks pane on the left, click on View installed updates link. Locate and select Windows Internet Explorer 8 in the list of installed updates, and then click on Uninstall button. Click on Yes when asked that are you sure want to uninstall the update.

first make sure you have the most updated version (internet explorer 8) to check this, open internet explorer and click on the "help" button and from the drop down menu, click on "about internet explorer" it should show the name in big letters "internet explorer..." so ya. if you do have the current version, then try uninstalling it (start>control panel>add remove programs) and then reinstall it from the website here so assuming that you have done that, if it still doesn't work, i would recommend using a different internet browser, i personally love mozilla firefox (download here), but google chrome (download here) works well also...hope this helps.
