LG VX8500 Chocolate - Lights Go On & Off

If you have insurance on your phone getting it wet will invalidate all warranties and insurance. The only time insurance can be used if the phone is malfunctioning (not from getting wet), or LOST. If your phone is lost, they will give you a brand new one under the insurance policy.

The only piece of a mobile that can go bad when dunked is the LCD screen if it has liquid in it.

1. If you do not want to purchase anything, you can try to remove the lens from the LCD screen and see if any water is between the lens and the lcd. (the lens is the glass that covers the lcd which is usually stuck on with double sided tape.)

2. You can purchase a new lcd and install it.

3. to disassemble the phone follow these instructions:

4. replace the screen, and the phone should be good as new.

It was probably stepped on.  You will require a new screen sooner or later.  Better off using the insurance to replace it.

The white screen is most often caused by a defective "flex cable" (Connects the keypad section to the display section). When this happened to my girlfriends VX 8500 I found a new cable on eBay for $10 (came with screwdriver and opening tool) and replaced the cable and the issue was resolved. Hope this helps

The problem you are describing is a somewhat common issue with the LG VX-8500...you can try removing the battery from the phone while the phone is still on. This is known as a "hard reset" and can sometimes resolve phone "glitch" issues. However, the Chocolate with the blank screen is often something that simply means the phone needs to be replaced. Check with your provider on whether your phone is covered by manufacturer warranty or not. If not, it may be time to consider upgrading your phone, or if you have phone insurance, filing a claim and getting a refurbished Chocolate.

Buy a screen. Many online retailers sell them, but ebay is the best place. Buy a phone for parts/repair, and make sure the screen is working. It might cost you $10-$15. There are many tutorials online on how to open up your phone, but it's not easy. Good luck!

you should just be able to go into the sore and tell them what is going on. they might even give you a new phone.

There's no way for you to fix the issue, but Verizon can replace the phone for you if you go into any Verizon store with a tech department.

If the phone is less than a year old (or you have extended warranty or the $5.99 insurance) then they should be able to replace it at no cost assuming the phone isn't showing any signs of serious physical damage.

If the phone is older than one year and you don't have extended warranty/insurance then they will still replace the phone but usually for a $50 fee.

Now the tricky part - watch your phone carefully. If the display is a solid white, plays sounds, receives calls/texts, etc then the techs at Verizon should be able to get your data off of it. However if the display shows all white then blinks black and goes white again, then you have a software crash and your data is lost :(

Blank screens were a common problem. LG found a new manufacturer for their screens and it's no longer the case.

Go to your verizon corp store and see about replacements .. If they have a UME36 transfer machine then they MAY be able to save your pix and videos
