Scanner my scanner only scans half the page. ie, the whole left side but not the right. is there a bulb in there that blew out or..??

  • Earthmother Apr 02, 2008

Scanner is cutting off approx 1/8" of document on left side. Additionally, I am getting numerous black lines down left edge of document. Same exact thing happens when I try to print.

This problem started when I replaced the ink cartridges. Have been in touch with Epson, online tec support, (USELESS), and Customer Relations, also useless. They are telling me that it is out of warranty and I have to pay for repairs. Or they will give me a "Loyality" discount if I want to buy a new unit.

I don't use this unit very often. This is the first time I have had to replace the ink. I would think it should last longer than the ink cartridges. Very disgusted with Epson, will never buy another one of their products.

When copying, the outer 1/8 th inch is copied and the rest is gray when in B & W and colored slightly when in color copy. Like the center of the sensor does not work any more.

Contact the manufacturer as this is most likely a hardware problem.

Samsung SCX-4216 Laser Multifunction Printer scans only half the page.

Open the top and watch it scan. Does the light go out halfway across the glass plate? It is likely to be a bad connection in the ribbon cable that follows the scanning light tube.

You appear to be the only person with this issue, which is very unusual.

Scanning one side Only

Flatbed scanners scan one side only.
To scan the other side you would have to flip the page.
Dual side simultaneous scanners are rather rear.

Right side of document is black when scanning to print, umax 1220u

1. Fred's right about trying another computer, but you still may have wrong/ old driver- download demo version of Vuescan at www.hamrick.com and see if it's your software.
2. Partially blank pages can appear when you don't have sufficient memory for the scan, but that usuall loosees the lower half of the page.
3. The lamp is probably not the problem, because there is enough liht bouncing around in mostflatbead scanners that you would just see the image "fade"to black, not have a distinct line.
4. best bet is that something inside has come loose and is covering half the scanning sensor, or the mirrors that reflect the images to the sensor inside

Canon DR-2580C scanner only scanning half the page. What could be the problem?

Select Auto for page size. The scanning software displays scanned image in many options, including 'fit'. Choose 'fit' so that you see complete image.

Can Lexmark x2470 scan and print a double sided document?

after reading the manual, http://www.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/2007/2400/ug_en.pdf, yes it is possible - not that it tells you how to do it though so read on.
Until you become familiar with the process just use one sheet of paper at a time in the printer.
As you know, in the scanner the top right of your document goes to the right hand front corner of the scan bed (the clear window), place the page on the scanner and scan.
Pick up the printed sheet of paper and flip it so the left hand side edge is now in your right hand and the right hand edge is now in your left hand and you are now looking at the blank side of the paper.
Insert the page back into the sheetfeeder.
Flip the page to copy in the scanner so the rearmost edge of the paper is now to the front of the scan bed and the front edge of the paper is now towards the rear (you should now be looking at the page you scanned previously).
Scan the page.
you should have now scanned both sides of one sheet of paper to another sheet of paper.
as your printer does not have a sheet feeder for the scanner you have to do the process manually. hope this helps.

Right indicator light blinks at doulde the speed

Bad bulb. When a turn signal bulb blows the other bulb on the same side will blink twice as fast since there is only half the load on the circuit. If the engine light came on at the same time the bulb blew then it probably meant that the computer notice the drop in resistance in the circuit and came on to let you know something is wrong. Change the bulb and have the engine code scanned/cleared. Autozone will scan and clear the code for free, except in Ca.

Uneven black border showing up on scanned documents

Most scanners scan the whole "bed" not just the document lying on it. Where no part of the document covers the bed usually appears as black.

Normally when scanning you are offered and option whether to scan the whole document or a portion thereof. When previewed, a dotted line appears around the portion the scanner thinks you want, you have to re-arrange that box so that it lies just within the part or the document you require.

Should this not resolve the issue the menu options on
the left hand side of the Xerox web page should guide you to a resolution.

Scanned image on left is cropped by a good quarter of an inch.

To get the image on the right side, Select 11" wide and the length you want. Keep the paper guides at the far ends. Insert the paper at the extreme right side and the image will appear on the right side. The left side would appear dark and You may need software to clean. If you dont have Raster Editing software, best way is to stick your image onto a white paper and scan the whole paper. Ensure that the ends are trim. ( I am assuming it is faceup scanning)

Scanning document leaves streak down right hand side

Even a single grain of dust or a single strand of hair on the scanning glass will cause the scan head to perceive ink/image where there is none. Deffinetly try cleaning the glass using a good window cleaner, and a cloth that is completely clean, or even a peice of newspaper. If the black line remains, I would suggest taking it into a service center to have the scan head itself cleaned.
