Same problem. After only a few uses, the toaster continues to work, but absolutely no heat (or power apparently), goes to the egg cooker. How do I fix this?

I have back to basics two slice egg and muffin toaster for 1 year and 3 months now. Just love it but this morning found out that egg no longer heats and cooks. Just the toaster part works not the egg part. Does this mean it's headed for the garbage, or is there something that can fix it. Thanks

Toaster works, but egg cooker stopped working today. This is my SECOND egg and muffin toaster. The first one died the same way! I really liked the concept so I bought another one. (Stupid me)Two toasters failing within a short period of time means an inherent flaw in workmanship.

My toaster is working but the egg portion has stopped. I've had the unit for two years.

I have only had mine for about 5 months. The two slice toaster. It now takes the egg part 10 plus minutes to eat up, then it will stop ... then heat up later and the egg may be cooked 25 minutes later. I cannot find the original receipt but i bought the product at target on a credit card so I can look up the purchase. Has anyone had such problems and what have you done??? [email protected] thanks

I'm trying to find a parts supplier for the 4-slice TEM4500 anywhere in Canada. Mine is missing stuff on the egg cooker side.

We had and Egg and Muffin toaster for 2+ years and never had a problem with it. We got a new one because the old one wore out and the egg cooking portion only worked a couple of times and then quit. We returned it and got another one. Same thing with this one as week and the egg cooker will not heat at all. Wonder if they changed something in the way they make them but they seem "cheaper" now versus 2 years ago.

Back to Basics TEM-500 toaster no longer heats up

We have the same problem after only about 20 uses. The customer service number is 1-800-688-1989...we may be able to get it replaced. If they aren't willing to do anything, I'm thinking of filing a complaint with our state Attorney General because there are SO MANY complaints of the SAME, idential problem from thousands of consumers!!!!

The egg cooker does not work at all

On small baord near the poacher, viewing the bottom of board with plug at 6:00, the relay on the left may not be working. It may be getting 24 volts energization, but not operating. Cannot find part on i-net, less than 600 quantity.

I have enjoyed my egg and muffin toaster for some time but all of a sudden the heater for the egg portion is not working. Is there a part (fuse?) or something that I can purchase to get it working again?

What a coincidence! My neighbor brought over his back-to-basics a couple of days ago with the same symptom.

I took it apart but haven't completed testing yet -- but it's not going to be simple. I think it's the relay for the egg cooker. It's soldered in a circuit board -- most likely will need replacing.

Unless you have experience with appliance repair, you should probably take it to a shop.

I have a tefal TT550015 toast 'n' Egg and have no instructions on how to use it. Please advise

To use the egg side only, fill the measuring cup with the correct amounts of water. (One side is for boiled eggs, one is for poached eggs.) Pour the water into the basin at the bottom. For boiled- Place 1-4 eggs in the tray with the four holes. Use the sharp thing at the bottom of the measuring cup to pierce the egg shell. Place the lid over top, and hit the 'egg' button. When the light on the button goes out, remove the lid. For poached, grease the pan. Spray/ butter, whatever. DO NOT rely on the non-stick. The thick black tray for boiling eggs goes on first. With the egg in the greased pan (scrambled or whole) place the pan into the unit. There are four plastic pieces in the boiling tray to show you where it goes, the handles aligned. The round tray, with the square holes in it, can be used to warm pre-cooked meat. This is optional, and that tray goes on top. Place the lid over the top, and press 'egg'.

WARNING: this cooks by steam, and any remainder can cause burns. Be careful when removing the lid. Same goes for the product. The boiled eggs should not be touched directly.

To make an egg sandwich, load the egg side and the bread/english muffin/bagel into the toaster. Press the 'egg/toast' button BEFORE starting the toaster. The toaster will start on a timer so that the egg and toast will be done at the same time. When the toast pops up, you are good to go.

Note: there should be no water afterwards, maybe a little oil if you cooked meat. Hard water residue is easily removed with vineger and a paper towel.

Back to Basics egg toaster

My egg cooker stopped working, so I took the unit apart. To answer your question, I did not see a fuse inside. One way to tell if it is a power problem to the mother board is to observe whether the LEDs light up or not after pressing the switches. If the LEDs don't light, there could be something wrong with either a power component or a power connection.

In my case, the toaster worked fine. Usually these problems are caused by loose connections. Sometimes it is not obvious where the loose connection is. All I did was loosen and re-connect the wires to the egg cooker and also to the board they came from. I also shined up the toast slide button copper connections with a nail file. This was just a precaution, since the toast slide button had to be working (i.e. it still toasted, just didn't cook an egg).

So far, it seems to be working, but time will tell. If the problem was due to something other than a loose connection, it will happen again.

$5.00 plus shipping or somewhere around $10. How much is a new toaster? I just scrubbed the remaining coating off my replacement pan that also peeled and it works fine. $10 is too much money for something that will peel just like the original. Too bad they won't make them available in stores that sell the toasters and at least save the consumer shipping.
