If you or a friend have a removal hard drive, usb or firewire, I suggest that you plug it into a usb port and see if the computer recognises it and if it functions. First you need to make sure that you are sure it is the drive. Usually it will have been making some clicking noise or sounding like it keeps trying to boot up, but never does. Although it is rare for a drive to not show symtoms prior to going down altogether, anything is possible. If you are able to see anything at all on the drive, try clicking on my computer and properties, if you can get to the system or even the Drive itself, you can then rt click and hit properties again to look at the tool menu. If you are sure the drive is gone, look at
www.pricewatch.com, and get realtime prices from hundreds of stores. Installing is a bit difficult if you have never done it before. Desktops are easier, you should have someone with at least basic computer skills install it for you. It's not something I would reccomend without some experience.
