PC won't detect MFC-210C Printer

I have changed my PC and the new one will not recognise that the printer is connected. It has a USB cable (printer end is not able to be unplugged) and when using the install disc I get a message to 'plug in or connect usb'. I do this and it doesn't work (and yes, I have turned the printer on). I have tried uninstalling the software and reinstalling; uninstalling the port and reinstalling. Don't know what else to do - please help.

Thank you for the suggested solution. Unfortunately, it didn't work. The set up wizard stays on "plug in the usb cable". It is as though the computer doesn't recognise the printer is plugged in. I am using a usb port that works with other hardware i.e. ipod, usb key etc.

One strange thing that does happen when I am trying to install using the cd and it gets to the point where it asks me to plug in the usb cable, is that the screen flickers a lot i.e. every 5 seconds or so. I don't know if this helps, but thought I better mention it in case it means something.

TRY THIS, remove or uninstall the printer from your computer and turn it off.

Now, before you switch back ON the computer, remove the USB connection of your printer.

When the computer is done loading. Install the Printer using the CD that comes with the printer.

When the installer ask you to insert the USB connection of the printer,
that's the only time you should insert it to the USB port... switch ON the printer... Installation should proceed smoothly until completed.

That should solve your problem

Need to hook up a brother MFC-210c so it can fax

Install the software (Brother MFLPro0 relevant to the printer. If you do not have the original CD download the appropriate suite from Brother Solution Center.
When you install the software you will be asked to choose USB, or Local Network. You can always install the USB and connect the printer to the calculator through USB. Different installations for different connection types (USB, LAN)
After you configure the software, you can open the Control Center 3 software and use the fax.
To be able to fax, you need to connect a telephone cable to the port marked line. After you do try pressing the unhook button. If connection to the phone line is correct you will hear the tone.
The MFC can fax without being connect to a computer, just the phone line.

MFC does not recognise the new black ink cartridge.

Disconnect power supply and USB lead (leave disconnected for 10 min). Repeat this for each colour that is not working and hey presto the LCD readout will revert to normal and you will be able to print again. Happy Christmas! Hope this works for you (worked for me)

HOW TO INSTAL THE BROTHER MFC-210C ALL IN ONE

Hello,

To install the printer you will need to first install the software - which can be downloaded from the Brother website at the below link. (Or if you have the installation cd, run that)

http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/Public/Templates/DownloadTop.aspx?NRMODE=Published&NRNODEGUID=%7b2C7B4D65-D5B3-47BF-958E-322BE5EFDCA8%7d&NRORIGINALURL=%2fbsc%2fpublic%2fus%2fus%2fen%2fdlf%2fdownload_top%2ehtml%3freg%3dus%26c%3dus%26lang%3den%26prod%3dmfc210c_all&NRCACHEHINT=NoModifyGuest&prod=mfc210c_all&reg=us&c=us&lang=en

After the software is installed, the program will likely instruct you to connect your printer - when this occurs you should connect the usb cable from your printer to your laptop. Once the software is installed and a connection has been made, the program will print a test page and providing the test page prints successfully you are ready to go!

Brother MFC-210C INSTALLATION

I had this and got arround it. Here is what I did. I shrunk down the installation window so I could do other things. I went into the control panel, system, hardware, device Manager. Their was a spot marked Other Devices, with USB devices listed, but the computer didn't know what they were. I uninstalled them! and then I did a scan for new hardware. The computer found the printer and continued on with the install.

Mfc-210c will not print

do you run mac or win as a pc system?

for pc: delete all drivers by help of the agressive remover tool (see: www.brother.com choose your country, your mfc and download the drivers needed).

Take mfc from power outlet and disconnect from usb port. Run the above mentioned procedures and reinstall the drivers again. When asked, replug mfc to power again.
Connect the usb cable directly to pc!!!!!!

If you run mac I cant give you an adivece yet, because I m not common to mac os yet (end of year I will know better cause will get an imac then, sorry!)

Can not get my printer to print from the computer

Unfurtunately you didnt tell us what pc system you run: Is it XP, Win2k or Vista?

The latter one wont be able to connect to your pc.
For the mfc 210c are only drivers for xp and win 2k, 98se avaiable.

You need another (newer) mfc (mfc240 or 235) if you run vista.

Anyway, if you run xp, download the aggrssive usb driver remover from the brother homepage and delete the drivers installed.

After a restart of the pc do have the mfc DISconnect from usb port (which must be one of the pc: NO hub!). Insert install disc and wait until pc software demands the connection to mfc. Connect now to pc usb. Let the software finish the installation. This should work for xp and win 2k/98se.

Scanner not being recognized

Knowing your PC-System would be helpful: Is it Win (and what version) or is it Mac?).

Did you connect to a USB-hub? This wont work! You have to connect directly to a USB-port of your PC.

Do connect only by a USB-cable NO longer than 2-3m!

MFC-210C

Yes, this is a USB printer. The connection will be very small, either a slot, or a square hole with two corners cut off. The cable will connect to a USB port on your computer (the aforementioned slot).
