IBM Infoprint 1120 printer has a 960 Service Memory Error. Need to know how to fix the problem so I can use this printer
SOURCE: Invalid Engine Code
This is actually a Lexmark printer, so what I'm quoting is a Lexmark sol. turn off machine hold down returnand go buttons turn on printer hold until performing test shows and let go of buttons it will go to a service mode ( instead of saying ready) got to printer set up hit select button go to engine 1,2 or 3 try each one ( hit select to go into that perticular number) what you are looking for is a number that has an * next to it. Use the arrow keys to scroll. most likely it changed the setting so go and look for that number w/the * and hit select when you see it.

SOURCE: service 960 memory error- r
A 960 RAM MEMORY FAILURE message indicates a failure of the RAM MEMORY that is soldered onto the printer's main controller/system board.
If the printer is displaying a 960 memory error.
1. Power off the printer.
2. If you have any extra memory SIMMs or code SIMMs installed in the printer, remove them.
3. Power on the printer.
4. If the 960 error continues, the main controller/system board will probably need to be replaced.
5. If the 960 error does not return, try printing a few documents.
6. If these documents print correctly, the cause of the 960 memory error is probably one of the SIMMs you just removed.
To confirm this, do the following:
1. Turn off the printer and reinstall each SIMM one at a time.
2. After you install each memory card, power the printer back on and try printing. If the error returns as soon as you install a particular SIMM, that SIMM is probably the cause of the error message.
Try, turning off the printer hold go and return button and turn on the printer until you see the memory size ( 64 k or so) let go of the buttons and it should go to the settings try to print test pages and so forth, then if you can go to exit diagostic mode.
( This is actually a Lexmark printer probably a T620 or T630)
