Frigidaire non-digital (old) Caprice top electric oven not working

I was using a friend's Frigidaire non-digital Caprice double electric oven and I pressed some of the buttons because the alarm sounded and I did not know how to turn it off. Shortly afterwards, I discovered that the top oven that I had been using was no longer heating and the oven light would not come on again. I have checked the mains fuses and the fuses behind the top panel and they are all OK. The lower oven works fine. The clock is working and the minute timer also. I am fairly certain that I have disengaged the automatic start/stop but I do not have a manual to refer to. What has gone wrong? How do we get the oven going again? Does anyone have a manual I can get a copy of?

Thank you Master Tech. I could not find a model number when I was at my friend's but I have since read that the model number might be on the (left?) side of the lower oven.  Is this right?

There is what we thought was a serial number on the lower rim of the top oven.

When you say "Check the clock knobs", are you referring to the auto start and stop knobs?  I presume you are not referring to the electronic clock?  Please confirm.

I have certainly got the stop knob to come out but I could not do the same to the start knob.  When I pulled it, the knob came off the shaft!  Are you sure the start knob should be pulled out in some fashion?

Thank you for your help so far.

Thanks again, Master Tech.  When I said non-digital, I meant that the oven is not a current model.  In fact, it was made, I believe, in the 1970s.

Below is a picture of the control panel.  It is electronic but not digital!

I will have my friends try out your suggestions.  Thank you for your interest. If this picture helps you locate the manual, it would be great to get a copy.  I will pay the costs.

Check the clock knobs the older style you had to push in to auto time them make sure the times are on the same time (stop&start) and the buttons are popped out to engage the upper oven if so post the complete Model # and i will get the manual for you

put the knob back on and turn it a full rotation or until you feel it pop out then see if the oven works if not try the same with the other knob ...NOTE>> there will be a little play on the shaft once it pops out (in and out).. one other thing your first post said it was non digtal but you now say electronic clock??

I have a Frigidaire Caprice double oven, 45 years old, the inner glass panel on the top oven door has shattered. I am not having any luck with finding replacement glass, any ideas?

take a profile of the glass shape (cut out the shape from cardboard) and go to a glass supply shop ( glass windows , doors , shower screens etc)
they should be able to cut and then temper the glass to make it heat proof for the door
if they cannot temper it they should be able to tell you where you can get it done

Frigidair double oven electrical problems

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand you are having electrical problems with your Frigidaire double oven, model# GLEB30T8A. I also see that this is the third time you have had a repairman out to reconnect exposed wires in your 2 and a half year old appliance. I suggest contacting the manufacturer directly. They might have some advice or might be able to point you in the right direction to having your double oven repaired for good. Hope this is helpful.

Good Afternoon Friend,

I see that your Frigidaire double oven, model# PLEB30T8CCB, is having trouble with the top oven not heating.

I suggest giving your double oven a hard reset by cutting the power at the circuit breaker for at least 2-3 minutes.

After restoring power you will need to reset the clock. You will do this by entering in the time and pressing start.

Turn the oven on to heat up, and if it does not, I suggest either contacting the manufacturer or contacting your local authorized technician to diagnose your appliance. Hope this helps.

-Best Regards-

Frigidaire double oven has one element not working in each oven

sounds as if perhaps there has been a thermal overload(switch) tha has gone bad, refer to part number 119 on bothe the lower and upper oven for refernce , you should have continuity trough the switches.
