Wireless G print server Model # WPSM54G

I use ATT DSL and currently have a "2WIRE" modem that affords me wireless capabilities for my household. I wanted to set up this print server to do just that--print anything without having to actually physically connect to the printer. I have run a few "diagnostics" according to the linksys web site but to no avail as of yet. I can't even get the print server to respond to the 192.168.1.78 -- that's how I ended up at "fixya"-- any suggestions other than return it to the store and forget about it?

Reset the Wireless print server , and run the setup cd once and check..press the hold the reset button for 60 sec with the power cable connected , that would properly reset your print server and then try to install it..contact linksys support for live assistance over phone 1800-546-5797

I had ATT DSL w/ a linksys wireless router. I was

So, both computers are on the lan segment of 2wire? How many lan ports on 2 wire? Can you do ipconfig from the command line on both computers to see what the addresses are? In most cases, the first 3 octets xxx.yyy.zzz.### should be the same. If not, then 2wire is configured for vlan and the computers are actually on different lan segments & cannot communicate with each other.
Another thing you can do to troubleshoot is to ping each other's address.
You have to first establish there is communication between the 2 systems before troubleshooting further. Otherwise, you could be wasting a lot of time.

Can I use AT&T 2WIRE 2701HG-B DSL to ant ISP?

look if u wish to go for verizon service,,they will provide u with a wireless modem as well,,but if u tell them that u hav a modem then they might configure this modem only,,both ATT and verizon are DSL service providers with PPPoE connections.the only thing u need is the username and passwrd from verizon which u have to setup on the first page of the 2wire setup page,,both the connections are dhcp based.so no other connection settings change required. But when u talk with verizon make sure u tell them of the 2wire modem

Moreover verizon has wireless broadband service which is actually a express card tat u have to put into your computer and u can go online anywhere u go within ur country{it works like a mobile phone}

best of luck,,keep me posted

Have SBCglobal with 2wire but want N wireless capability

Follow the dots -

2 wire DSL wire to back of DSL modem.

Ethernet cable out of DSL modem, to current router (if you have one).

Ethernet cable out of current router (if you have one) to new Wireless N router.

If you currently have a wireless G router, keep it, or, use the new Wireless G/N router alone. You will need to set up all security settings again if you remove your current router, and if the new router is N only, you will need to make sure all your wireless connecting computers have wireless N cards in them.

CAN A 2WIRE DSL ROUTER WORK WITH A CABLE INTERNET CONEECTION

The 2wire dsl modem/router cannot be use with a another cable modem , since this 2wire device is also a modem/router and its made for the DSL conenction that's why it wont work with Cox cable, the best thing that you can do is to ask Cox to give a wireless modem/router like this 2wire so you can still use the wireless connection of your computer..

Hope that helps..........

Wireless printing with AT&T U-verse and 3800 HGV-B and Linksys WPSM54G

I may not be able to completely solve the issue for all who posted, and I have not gotten the scanner part of my Brother MFC-5440CN printer/scanner/copier/fax to work through the wireless PS, but I can at least shed some light:

First off - trying to make the Linksys WPS54G work on a wireless network that has a decent level of security is NOT for the faint of heart!

Key issue is security; make sure you know what wireless security protocol your router is using (WEP-64, WEP-128, or WPA). My U-verse installation uses the exact same 2Wire router, but either it defaults to WPA security, or the tech set it up that way without asking me. WPA is preferable anyway, as it is the most secure, and I had my network set up on WPA with my ZOOM X6 when we had AT&T DSL.

The problem is that the Linksys unit is old/obsolete enough that it defaults to WEP or no security, and in fact the setup program and utilities on the CD that came with the refurb. unit I recently bought are way outdated compared to the current downloads available on their support site, and don't even offer WPA as an option.

If your U-verse router is configured for WPA, as is most likely, then you have to get your Linksys unit configured for WPA security before it can be properly "seen" on the network by your computers. This means either downloading the latest setup/driver programs from Linksys's support website and burning a fresh setup CD, or getting to the Web-interface of the unit and setting it there (I could not even get to the web-interface because of my firewall and other security). Only then can you set the unit to use WPA security with the same key/passphrase as your U-verse router and your computer(s).

I'd advise downloading the latest stuff in any case. I ended up downloading the latest firmware, upgrading it on the unit using the Bi-Admin util on the setup CD, setting up the unit using the web-interface (be patient, because sometimes the page loads can be very slow when it is reading or writing settings). I have never been able to access the web-interface from my laptop, which is probably the most secure on our network. I was only able to get things working when I accessed it from an old PC we rarely use, and it is only running Windoze (XP) Firewall for security. The print server had to be Ethernet connected to the router while doing the configuration to make it work.

2701HGB modem - dsl light flashes red

if all the lights on the modem are Green then it means there's no prob with the hardware. just make sure that you're going to use the right WEP key or wireless password. the network name is 2wirexxx, the X is the the last 3 numbers of the SN which can be found on the bottom of your 2wire 2701HG-B.make sure that your wireless switch is also turned on of course. the wireless light on the modem will lit if it is connected

2wire Wireless router not working w/Comcast cable modem

Its almost impossible to connect a 2wire DSL router with a Cable modem. They dont go hand in hand.
Although you can connect the outgoing ethernet wire from the modem in the last ethernet plug on the back of the router and then have the ethernet connections coming from the router. But not wireless. and if you find a way, contact me at [email protected]
