Watching movies and sound starts to distort

Exactly half way through dvd via the Power DVD player the sound starts to distort. I used to be able to play copies of movies (burnt dvds) but now it will play a quarter way through and pause/stop. It plays regular copies of DVD's but half way through the sound gets bad. Any idea of how to repair that?

Is there a way to hook up a second dvd player wo recording capabilities to record the movie to a blank cd while it's playing thru another dvd player

If you are trying to make a copy of a commercially produced DVD movie, give up. They are copy protected and the equipment sold to record and play DVDs will not allow you to make copies of these movies. Even if it would copy, there would be image distortion and possible sound distortion that would render the movie unwatchable. There are other ways to do it that involve computers and special software, but they are not legal in most jurisdictions so I will not venture into those areas.

I can't eject a dvd from a JVC player because movie I was watching kept freezing.

Unplug player from wall receptical, and detach any other leads that plugged into it, press and hold power for at least 2 minutes in an attempt to clear the microprocessor controller ic, if this fails! you may have to take the top off to manually eject the DVD.

It sounds as if you have inadvertantly locked your dvd player. Try using the code 136900. If this passcode is accepted, then access the general setup menu (using your remote) and choose the Disc Unlock option.

I hope this helps. I completely relate to the frustration of this very problem.

When playing DVD movies, after watching about 75% of the movie, the video and audio are choppy and distorted. I have attempted to play various DVD's, same issue.

Hi, the problems here can be caused by a couple of things. Assuming you have tried playing a couple of DVD's back to back, it sounds like there is runout on the disc (wobble) which is preventing the pickup from tracking the outer edge of the disc.
it sounds like there may be a particle stuck to the spindle table(the round table that the disc sits upon). You may need to remove the disc clamp to gain access to it - just run your finger lightly around the top edge of it to clear it - don't be tempted to touch or look into the laser pickup - you can be permanently blinded.

If you have changed the DVDs and the problem is still there, then the problem can only be the DVD player.
The symptoms you describe cannot be caused by the TV or the connection.

Shuts off after a loud sound

Hmmm...not sure but sounds like the vibration from the loud sound is causing the disk to jump. Not sure why that would power it off, but I think your thought to junk it sounds reasonable.

DVD PLAYER NOT READING DISC

Well I have been repairing dvd players a while now and the main problem spots are laser ,spindle motor, laser tracking motor and the biggest culprit and un suspecting one the lens cable .....most of them range from the lens cable to the spindle motor though... the constant movement of the lens in watching a whole movie causes the cable to unknowingly and slowly break and if the spindle motor is defective ,on inserting a dvd the disc spins slowly and you may hear the lens chirping ... so you can check those....
