Question about Samsung BD-P1200 Blu-Ray Disc Player

BD-P1200- Samsung worst customer service ever?

Samsung does not care for tis' customers at all...the reports listed here prove it..
My own BD-P1200 does nto play POC 3, 3:10 to Yuma, Die Hard 4 and Blade Runner(new Final cut release)...I have called them 5 times and written 4 E-Mails-- was told on one call "Sir, you are just venting!"...
Jesus-- all I am looking for is some ANSWERS!!!!!!!!
Their last update on line says 12/11/2007...they had told me about 2 weeks before X-Mas that the next update would be posted before Christmas(I wanted to play Pirates 3 for my family at Chrismas)
No such luck-- I called this past Thusday and got a second level (very disinterested and tired sounding person) who said they were told at a meeting on 1/15 that it "would be about 4-5 days"...I don't believe them anymore and think thte ONLY thing that will wake up Samsung is a class action lawsuit.....

    Yes, from Amazon-- I know it is a problem as there are many other posts on various web sites that these problems are universal--

    I have had the same problems with my Samsung BD-p1200 bluray player as described above, and had made calls to Samsung. In my opinion, the custumer service is less than adequate. The last time I called I told the rep. that I wanted my money back because the bluray player was not playing bluray disc, and it's not my problem that the disc distributers are using different formats, that samsung needs to modify software for.They should have gotten that handled before releasing the item on the market. I paid $600 for my unit. Anyway, the rep. had transfered me to another person that supposeingly would address my request for my money back. That person told me that my case was being reviewed by some sort of "higher ups", and they would contact me when they make a decission. I asked "By when?", and she replied that there was no turnaround time. I asked how I could get in touch with them, she said I couldn't, and there wasn't a phone no. that I could contact them with. Besides the inability of the unit to play recently released bluray discs, there are other problems with my player, such as; every time I power up the unit and start a DVD the screen goes blank with no sound for about 2 seconds and then comes back on again, also from time to time when I press the fast forward button, the screen gets a pink hue over the picture, and there is no sound. I've addressed this with the tech support, and they told me that I need to pull the HDMI cable out and re-insert it. This does correct the problem, however, I shouldn't have to do that (I also can correct the problem by powering the unit down, ad back up). Regarding the blanking out problem, I was told that I would have to send the unit in for them to look at, which I'm not willing to do.

    The model BD-P1200 Samsung is a defective product. Other models don't have all these problems. PS3's have no problems with any disc. I think a class action suit is necessary. Check out these links.

    I have the same EXACT problem. I call Samsung technical support last night and the resource I spoke with denied any known issues with the player. It wasn't until this morning after I googled the unit model number there is a class action suit underway.

    Samsung should do the right thing by their customers and offer a full refund or replacement unit (that works properly).

    I'll continue to follow the class action suit to ensure my personal situation gets remedied.

There is a class action suit.

I think it is McGovern vs Samsung over BD-P1200 and other players. Someone whould really sue Sony and generally the group responsible for the technology. Marketing of this technology was way premature.

Do what I am going to do, file suit against them in Small Claims Court. Done it a couple of times already (e.g., Compaq for a dud laptop and Black's Camera's for losing many rolls of films from a vacation - years ago).

You will find it is easy (well here in BC, they have an a great online service) and how quickly you get a response from the manufacturer plus they pay half court costs if you win...generally, they will settle out of court.

Sir, did you get your discs from a reputable distributor? Could be that your discs aren't giving the proper signals?

Download the user manual and see page 41~42 to set the resolution output through on screen menu setup. Please read through the manual.

Very bad sevice

Hi! that was bad, we in kolin/ syntax phil. make sure that everything that is hook up on the unit should be put -up back in place, before we leave the customer.

BD-p1500 no disc error plays blu ray movies fine but will not play regular DVDs. Comes up and says no disc

need to contact SAMSUNG CUST. SERVICE, they will inform you about a new firmware update need to be done to your unit , beware shipping will cost you around $40.00 , hope this information is helpful , AJ

Problem w/Samsung BD-P1200 Blue Ray Disk Player

Hello mljackson197,

This indicates a problem with the pickup head. First I would suggest cleaning the laser head with a disk made for that purpose. If this does not work, then I would suggest (if you have a background in electronics) taking the cover off and checking the bias voltages on the laser pick head (comparring them to the schematic values). What I believe is happening is just a dust problem, however if it is a circuitry problem, contact the manufacture or use the schematic/service manual to locat OEM parts.

I would, however try to clean the pickup head first.

Try resetting it.
Remove the batteries and hold down the POWER button on it for 30 secs. Then replace the batteries with fresh ones.

I can see your struggling with this A little Bit.
On reading a review of this product, it seems without a remote. it,s about as much use as a chocolate kettle.
after a bit of searching around, i found this page of potential remote control suppliers.

One for All remote on Samsung Blu-ray

i have the same problem here, have a BD-P1200 and have been trying to find a code to use the samsung tv remote to control the Blu-Ray. The remote controls the DVD player but there is no code for Blu Ray!

CD Firmware update

I would strongly recomend that you put the unit under the rear tires of a large truck and back over it, that should take care of the problem.
