Question about Hitachi 43FDX01B TV

1 Answer

Hitachi TV Model 43FDX10B

Every once-in-a-while my TV will shut off and immediately the red power light will flash on and off continuously and not come back on until I turn off the TV for a while. I may leave it turned off for 15 minutes and get back to viewing or it may take as long as 1, 5, or 10 hours before I can turn it on again. Sometimes placing a fan to cool everything down, it will become operable. The most I've had to wait was 1 day. The least I have had to wait was 10 minutes. It seems that the sooner I place the fan for cooling, the sooner it becomes normal. I suspect the DVR cable box may be sending an illogical message to the TV to turn off as if sending a sleep message to the TV. I say this because it only happens when the DVR modem gets hot. That is why I use the fan. If I keep the fan running continuously, the problem rarely happens. However, my fan burnt out. Does anyone have a suggestion or a way to look at the problem differently?
The Superbowl will be coming up soon and I'd like to clear this up before then. Thanks, Jim

Probably but this hitachi has no reall HD just simulated, called D3VirtualHD by hitachi. Should work, you can always return the blu-ray if it's not what you expected or ask a good salesman if it's worth, you might try it in store...

Hitachi 43FDX10B rear projection tv

Do you have a cable box which turns on and off with the tv? If so is your cable box input on the video 4 mode? If that is the case look under the video menu for advanced selections, you will see a selection for auto/on/off for video 4, select off. Check manul under video and it will explain also.

Power light will not shut off.

Sounds like the main relay is stuck, if you know about tvs and what a relay looks like, you can take the back of and tap it with a screwdriver and it will clear up for a while but return, you will need to replac the relay. If not knowledgable call a technician for a repair.

Chirping noise and flashing front power light.

Theres a short somewhere in the set. Most likly the HOT is shorted or the vertical IC has caused this in the past. In one case I had shorted convergence IC cause this symptom.. This set is solid state and there are no user serviceable parts inside so please call a trained tech to assist you with this problem Good Luck
