I have Toshiba TV Model #65HM167. The problem is when I turn it on - it will stay on for 30m to 3 hrs, and then just shut it self down. I pull the power cord for 30 minutes and then plug it back in and it will stay on from 30m to 3hrs and do it again. I can not shut it off with the remote ot TV power button. The TV is (2) years old this month. Jerry

Check the fan to make is working properly. It's in the lamp compartment on the left side of the unit. clean the vent on the rear unit and the fan fin's gently. good luck

May want to retire this set---the white dots are a problem in the Optical light engine this model uses and that is a very expensive part---it may or may not also be the on/off issue.

Yes,this problems is the Light projection Engine.The chip is bad.This happen to many models of tvs in the industries.Sony,Samsung,Mishibishi and Toshiba they all use the same IC chip.Call Toshiba make kind of deal with them,help u replaced the chip or the Light Engine it self.This problems is not new many people went to You Tube **** about this problems.
CK the Lamp Fan if it stops running Lamp will not light and if thats ok Ballast Board it is what turns Lamp on!

The boot data is corrupted. Download the firmware update from Toshiba and unzip the files and folders,copy the unzipped files & folders to a SD card (like a camera uses). Unplug the tv and insert the card into the slot hidden behind the cover above the HDMI inputs. Plug in the tv and watch the yellow blinking stop and a solid blue will light when done. Your TV is a DLP one lamp does it all, not like the old projection TVs with the Red, Green & Blue CRTs. Your TV may have a bad light engine or lose cable connections.
You have done all you can do. If you had a power outage, when the power came back on a it surged and probably caused a Power Supply problem or something in the micro controller to fail. Either way it 's not good. I would call Toshiba and let them guide you to a Service Facility that can check it out. Depending on your Homeowners Insurance, repairs could be coverd or unit be replaced depending on cost to repair.
