Unable to access homeportal, but internet is ok?! (2wire 1800hw)

Hello. Ive been reading to find a solution about this problem. I am using a 2wire 1800hw router that manages the internet connection for 4 computers. A few days ago it was having problems with the internet signal so i unplugged it, so it would restart.

At first there was no problems, but today, even if the internet is good, even the local network, i am unable to enter to access homeportal (router management) even by using ip (,, homeportal or

The internet so far is working ok BUT can be unstable at times. Im woried about not being able to access homeportal.

As a reference, before the problems i also created a new firewall rule to test Azureus. It was tcp/udp port from 46162 to 52190 (aproximately), with the only purpouse of testing some other problems. I have read that MAYBE the router could have blocked the access to homeportal.

I have tried ethernet, wireless and even the USB connection but i am still uanble to access the homeportal.

I would appreciate any help.

Unplug everything from the computer; this is ethernet cables, phone line and power. Power up the router without any connections. It will try to connect to the internet, but without the phone line it will not do anything. Connect a single computer, try to access homeportal, it should now let you access it.

The problem is that a rule i created made the router 'stuck'. I disconnected everything and used another computer to access the homeportal, eliminate the router and then connect everything again. After this, the router is working well.

I had the same problem. I reset the home portal to factory setting and uninstalled the 2wire software from my main computer. I then reinstalled the system using installation cd that came with 2wire.

You can log into the router and find it there. I suggest using a phone number, as well as putting access code on the router itself, for this exact reason. Hard to remeber months down the road.

Need password for 2wire271 for ebook reader. Thanks

Contact the ISP (Internet Service Provider) who provided the 2WIRE router to you. They will tell you the "default" password, and will tell you how to "configure" your wireless network to be "secure".
At that time, you will set a password.

I need 2Wire 1800HW without router

The best solution is to use it anyway. If your DSL supplier gave you the info to set up the modem, then the router should work. If you can get to the unit with your computer to set the modem up, the router will allow you to attach more computers.

Unable to get laptop to connect to the internet.

I have resolved the problem by doing a system restore. I set the computer to a previous date and this seems to have sorted out the problem. I guess that I may have had a software confliction.

Many thanks.

You can add up to 4 computers via the local internet connections on the back of the router. (RJ45/CAT5)
