HP Compaq Presario SR2020NX PC Desktop Logo
Posted on Dec 13, 2009

Due to a virus and boot up loop, I have completed a PC Recovery on a Compaq Presario with Windows XP SP 2. The hard drive now has a partition with C maintaining my old files and PR (D) the recovery partition which the system now boots into. I am able to copy or move files from the C partition onto the desktop D partition, but the D partition is very small (according to disk management). Should the system be booting into the D partition and if so, do I need to resize it and how? Also how do I get the programs residing in the C partition (such as McAfee) to run in the D partition?

I would back up my data then delete both partitons and format as one drive.. Thats what I would do.. But dont do this unless you have a copy Vista or XP on CD.. The install files for your system are on your hard drive..

My compaq presario 500 wont boot up?compaq screen comes on then, blank screen,a little cursor in the upper lefthand side

virus is the cause. You are going to have to put in your windows cd and boot from it. Then do a "repair" and hopefully recovery your system if not you are going to have to do a total system wipe.

How do i restore my compaq presario v2000 to factory condition without recovery CDs, F10 and F11 not working and NO System Recovery option in the start menu

Your computer is infected with viruses. Solution: install and update anti-virus. You can use anti-virus free (Avira or AVG). Perform a virus scan process, with the option, if a virus is detected, the primary action "Repair" and secondary action "Quarantine".

My presario want boot

if you still have an installation disk, put it in, restart, and run a startup repair. if that doesn't work, try to do a system restore. if that doesn't do anything you'll have to completely re-install windows.

Cannot complete recovery or clean install windows Compaq Presario

You could have a Boot Sector Virus. you would need to run anti-virus software to try and remove this issue. I would recommend Avast or AVG. I have attached a link of website that microsoft recommends. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/49500/EN-US/

The monitor reads: system boot failure. Insert recovery disk.

McAffee Security or adding memory cards should not effect the ability to do a system recovery, but so be it. Here is a list of presario laptops, do you know which is yours?
