How do I adjust the mixtures?

How do I adjust the mixtures on my Husqvarna 365 chain saw please?

  • Anonymous Dec 13, 2009

Thank you for your comments. I can locate and turn the screws, however I don't know in which order I should adjust. For example I adjust the high speed jet to max. revs, but the engine hesitates on acceleration. Is this then a high or low speed adjustment?

The "L" adjusts acceleration and smooth running. The "H" adjustment is almost completely how it performs at full throttle (should be adjusted for performance in a cut IMO). HTH

There are 2 wav (sound - idle & full) files that lost their markings when copied. I find them helpful, I think you will too.

Chain saw runs for 15 min then cuts out ?

could be several things, first always inspect the cylinder for scoring, if there is scoring there will be compression loss once the saw warms up, second check for fuel hose damage either in the tank or out side of the tank, third, ignition coil could be shutting down after it gets hot.

I found there is a Malaysian made piston/sleeve complete set for Husqvarna(365) chain saw and its very cheap .so far so good..if you have any experience about this please let me know.

You pay your money and you take your chance, i have seen some very poor quaility pirate parts, do not expect it to last too long, tollerences and coatings are usualy the issues.

Husqvarna 365 backfireing

Check your spark plug for 'whiskering' (tiny strands of carbon collecting across electrodes) and clean and re-gap. If this not the problem, check carburettor fixing to engine - may be drawing air through failed sealing gasket. Good luck!

How to adjust ticover

There will be three screws on the side of the carb, a L screw, this will adjust the fuel mixture from idle to half throttle, a H screw, this will adjust the mixture from half throttle to maximum throttle, and a I or T screw, this works on the throttle spindle and will increse the idle, not the mixture.

Has run fine. used for hour to hour and a half and all was good. quit for an hour. added fuel and ran again. but, within 10 minutes, it died and a little smoke came from area around the pull cord. ...

Do you have the correct Resistor plug in the saw? If the plug is correct and muffler is clear, air filter clean, my thoughts would be a clogged carburetor.

Settings for mixture adustments has chain saw keeps cutting out

Hello Liz;
The shop manual for my 359 says the initial settings for "H" and "L" are 1 turn CCW from lightly seated, then adjust for performance. If your saw is already running just adjust for performance. I have tried many different procedures for performance and this is the best I have found.
Carburetor Adjustment by Madsens.com
http://www.madsens1.com/saw%20carb%20tune.htm
  • CW is leaner; to lean will destroy the saw. If over tightened closed (CW) the adjustment screw faces are easily marred; marred adjustments are difficult to impossible to set properly.
  • Clean the air filter; adjusting with a dirty filter can cause a run lean condition once cleaned and the saw run.
  • Clean the spark arrestor and muffler; if the saw cannot exhale it cannot inhale.
  • There are 2 wav (sound - idle & full - may not be highlighted) files that I find most helpful, I think you will too.

How to install a new tension screw on a husqavarna 365

I have never done this but with the IPL as a guide it looks pretty simple.
Use care; it is easy to trigger the chain brake and is most difficult to reset with the cover off the saw.
Remove the clutch cover (brake off)
Husqvarna 365 IPL example (may not be your saw)

Detail A (clutch cover)
remove 2 each - 503 21 28-10* screws
remove 537 01 68-01, all parts now accessible.
