Clean out suction tubes ther is something caught in them

  • joshuashane Feb 03, 2011

same problem, all tubes clean. Dyson rep listened to the whine and said it was a blown internal seal and to sent it in for repairs.

  • Anonymous Jun 10, 2011

Had grinding sound and burning smell. Took the DC 17 apart to find horribly soiled pre filter (which I wash every month) and horribly soiled post filter (didn't even know there was one to change). There was hair stuck in the motor impeller and three quarters of the impeller fins were either broken off completely or pushed back and ineffective. I'm waiting for my new motor and filters:-(

How do I gain access to the motor of an Electrolux 2000 canister vacuum. The air intake on the motor must be partially blocked as there is a loss of suction and the motor makes that high pitched whine like...

Dismantling the vacuum probably won't help much, and reassembling can be a bear.
To check the intake, remove bag and look into bottom of bag well. It there's a filter there, remove it and check intake at bottom of bag well. Clear if there is.
The afterfilter on a canister is located beneath the air diffuser grid on the top of the machine where the tools can be attached. Remove this cover and there should be a white filter. Yours is probably black, or at least real dirty, if it's never been changed. This also blocks the airflow, reducing suction, and potentially damaging the motor. Extremely dirty filters are an indicator of how much dust is getting into and through the motor. This is usually caused by using generic bags rather than the genuine Electrolux, now Aerus, bags.
It is also an indicator of another internal problem on some other Aerus and pre-Aerus Electrolux vacuums.

The suction has decreased by about 50%. The brush

Check that there is nothing blocking the hose and that there are no obstructions around any of the filters, clean and replace filters too if possible. If you still find you have less than optimum suction , you may need to replace your motor. But it sounds like there may be a blockage or an air leakage somewhere in the unit.Good luck.

I have a Taski Baby Bora that looses suction and has a loud high-pitch squeal coming from the motor. Where can I take it for service? Type: S1C No: 7384 Series: 0302 E-Mail: [email protected]...

Check it carefully for clogs in any tubes where the dirt passes through. A clog can cause it to make a very loud whistle or whine.

Decrease in suction

Check to make sure the round gasket seal, under the hood, is in place. It is a rubber seal that sits on the plastic pipe, under the corner of the recovery tank, when the tank is placed in to the foot. It seals the vacuum from the motor, to the tank.

Decreased suction

you might have a clog, to try and unclog the lines, you need to unplug the unit, and remove the bag compartment. Then take a shop vac using the hose attachment hold it into the attachment door where there is low suction and try to draw the clog out the way it went in.
