The connection speed is so slow. What can I do to speed it up (other than moving it closer to the router - that doesnt seem to help)? I am using another computer via wireless connection at the same distance from the router with no problems. Does it need some sort of reset or update? Thanks.

There are a few things you can try.. Try switching the slow card to the faster system. If it still slow it’s the card. Sometimes the driver on the Install CDs that come with the card need updating.. Go to the manufactures web site and download the drivers and install.. Give us the make and model number and we will provide a link to the drivers.. But I really need more info.

Try moving closer to the router. If the speed gets better you need a more powerful router.

How to increase download speed on Roku 2

You probably have a slow internet connection. It is recommended that you have a minimum 25/25 Mbps connection from your provider. If you do then the Roku might be too far from your wireless router. Try to move the router closer to the Roku if possible. The best way to watch streaming video is with a wired ethernet connection.

I wuld like more speed on wireless router

Most likely the issue is not the router unless you get a faster connection when you plug into its ethernet ports or are at a closer proximity.
If it gets faster as you get closer you might get a better connection with a wireless N router (only if your laptop or other device supports N, as the connection will drop to what ever standard is lower).
Otherwise the best bet to upgrade your speed is to make sure you don't have other applications open that use network bandwidth or upgrade your service through your ISP.

Internet responce is low and opening a file is low,.. like opening youtube is takes a seconds or minutes to open

You can do a few things:

Reset the router by pressing the small button in the back for 15 seconds. You will need to reconfigure the router with the CD provided by the manufacturer.

Move your computer closer to the router. If you have a large house or the signal is weak, moving the router and/or computer for a direct signal will increase the speed of the connection.

Run a scan on your computer using this free tool.

9 out of 10 times, it is malware and/or a virus on the computer that slows down the connection.

I keep losing the device every 30 seconds. the network is connected to a Gbps network

try changing the network cable, these are infamous having 16 points of failure in every cable. I find this especially true in my Gbps networks, crappy cables. Hope that helps! cheers. Next I'd look into your router/hub/switch. I have had many of these fail too after a couple years. Third, I'd try slowing my network to 100Mbps instead of auto in the network adapter properties under the speed heading. sometimes slowing it seems to solve lost packets. (which could be due to a bad wire) Hop that helps Also try simply moving the device closer to the router if its a wireless device, or change transmit channel on the router config, Noise can be introduced in a number of ways these days. cheers.

Slow internet at 120 Kbps but fast connection at 54 Mbps Why

54 Mbps is the speed between your computer and your wireless router. The .8 Mbps is the speed of your connection between the router and the internet. You should call your ISP and ask what your speeds should be; there could be something wrong on their end or your modem might be malfunctioning. It's also possible that your WiFi connection itself has a weak signal. That can be corrected by moving the router and the computer closer together, or getting a signal relay and putting it between them.

My DL-524 is downloading painfully slow. I have no problems when I use a wired connection through the same router.

How much distance (and how many walls and furniture) between the router and the laptop? Too much, and your signal-strength will be diminished, and the download-speed will decrease.

When the laptop is much closer to the router, does the speed improve?

Speeding up internet

Here are a few suggestions on how to speed connection:

- Move router or pc location if possible. Closer = better connection usually

- Try changing the channel your router is broadcasting on. Sometimes there are slower channels and faster channels in heavy traffic area

- If you have any toolbars in your browser (i.e., yahoo or google), remove them. Those toolbars use up resources that can slow you down.

- Delete cookies and internet files

If these don't work, post a comment on here with your operating systems on laptop and desktop and router type.
