After upgrading to Mac OS 10.5.1, I lost all my itunes songs. What software program will recover them? Do I attempt to recover them with the appropriate software from my system HD or from my external HD?
You can check freewarefiles.com or cnet downloads for utilities that might recover them...Mac doesn't have the same install base as PC but I suspect you can find something IF NECESSARY. I say if necessary because if you have them on an external drive (regardless of what happened when you "?upgraded") they should still be there...just copy to your music directory (folder). Now back to upgrade....did you upgrade from an older operating system with an upgrade disk or did you do a new install (some people use the term upgrade a bit differently. If you did a new install they are gone unless (and I am not familiar with Apples current OS's) you can reverse the install (as you can in Windows). Hope this helps....Tango

I upgraded from Mac OS 10.4.10 by using the cd of the new OS 10.5..1. When I found all itunes music files missing, I went to my external HD and they were also missisng from there. Don't know how that happened. When I tried using the file recovery software, I made the attempt from my computer HD instead of from my external HD. Did that destroy any chance of finding the missing files?
Thanks,
Dan
