WATER PUMPS ARE DESIGNED WITH A "WEEP HOLE" IN THE BOTTOM OF THE PUMP. THIS WILL LEAK IF THE BEARING OR SEAL IS FAILING.
I HAVE A FEELING THE SMOKING IS DUE TO THE COOLANT DRIPPING ONTO A HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD OR PART

My 1999 Chevy Malibu is losing the coolant though the overflow hose by the resevior I've had my head gaskets replaced there is no overheating no water oil mix, but my radiator fans arent working I

Sounds like you need to disconnect the Radiators' electric fans and have them tested. You absolutely must have them working, or your car will overheat. Check to see if the Temperature guage is working.

You need to go to a good autoparts store and have them test the fans and charge and test your battery. You may need some sensors to activate the Radiator fans, but you could be running the battery down with shorted cooling fans.

There are also Relays which work with the Radiator fans. The overflow will stabilize once the water gets into where it belongs. Make sure your Thermostat is not clogged with the sealer.

My 1998 chevy malibu wont start after overheating with smoke why

If the engine was overheated, you most likely have a cracked cylinder head and/or a blown head gasket. The reason it won't start is because there is angine coolant getting in the combution chambers. (You cannot run the engine on antifreeze)

1999 Cadillac eldorado overheating. Changed thermostat, still overheating now with white smoke coming from exhaust. Checked water pump belt, it is there and turning. Cold air blowing from heater, no heat.

coolant leaking into engine probably blown head gaskets. More damage will occur the more you drive it. Unfortunate and expensive repair on a northstar.

My 1999 Chevy malibu keeps overheating even when the heater is on what is the problem?

You may have a radiator leak. Or your coolant level is low. Using the heater is not a solution to an overheating vehicle. You can usually smell coolant and see the leak. Often times a gasket can leak mixing engine oil and coolant, decreasing effectiveness of both sytems. Check color of fluids make sure the cooloant is viscus and not sludgy.

Also check coolant fan electric connections and fuses. The fan really cools down the engine moreso than coolant. It should kick on when your engine reaches a certain temp. If it does not the vehicle will overheat.

Leaking fluid in my 1999 Chevy Malibu

When they changed the water pump and the leak stopped then the water pump was bad. If they changed the water pump and was still leaking then then it was not the water pump.
Where is the fluid leaking from, if there is white smoke coming from the tail pipe then good chance is that the head gasket is gone and pull the dip stick out to see if there is antifreeze mixxing with the engine oil.
It's common that the 3.4 V6 has intake manifold gasket go bad and leak. Check all the heater hose first, and try to find out where the leak is coming from.
Good luck and keep me posted, glad to help you as much as i can.

1999 chevy malibu engine keeps over heating, possibly a blown head gasket?

Overheating could be a combo of many thing's.If your thermostat is stuck you will have no circulation which will cause overheating. Also if your eng. has alot of miles your water pump may be in need of replacement.Listen for your radiator fan motor and be sure that's working and also check to see if you radiator is good.If your loosing antifreeze because of a headgasket you will see a white cloud out of the exhuast because it is burning it and sometimes you also get a little in your eng.oil.Using a pressure tester on your coolant system will help to diognos the problem,if you have a leak some where it will not hold pressure.Sign,s of a bad waterpump are poor circulation and a antifreeze leak from a vent on the waterpump.Be sure the eng. is cool before working on it.Hope this was helpfull.
