Re: HK AVR 445 stuck in standby. Power won't stay on. ...
You have a blown capacitor in your receiver it controls you constant flow of electricity to keep the unit on you cant fix it without the required part so you should take it to the shop
This has now happened twice to my AVR-745. Is this a design issue and is HK doing anything about fixing it properly? This has now happened twice to my AVR-745. Is this a design issue and is HK doing anything about fixing it properly?

Most of these HK receivers have a 3.6v rechargable battery on the front panel board. If the battery dies, you lose memory when it is turned off/unplugged/power failure. The battery is soldered on the board. Not replaceable by the user unless you are a tech. It should keep memory if left in standby.
Thats the protection circuit kicking in, overheating is rarely the problem, check your speaker wires for shorts. If it does that with nothing connected you have a bad amp board :(
its likely that eith er the y sus or x sus pcb have gone faulty or it could be the main or power supply pcb. if all else fails, check voltages and if they are ok from each point , you need to replace the plasma panel.
I am experiencing a simular problem; amber light stays on ; no other lighting appears. this occured after leaving the avr in standby mode for a long time. I even tried to reset the unit as stated in the last page of manual after the trouble shooting advice - still no response - good luck!
