How do I turn off Kenmore Microwave Beeping?

I've tried other ideas mentioned here. They don't seem to apply to my model. I have Kenmore model 721.80402400. It's a nice over the range microwave but the beep is very loud. It beeps after every key entry and continues to beep every few seconds after cooking is done. Any ideas are appreciated. If there isn't an easy programmable way, I'm open to other ideas. Thanks!

Thanks for quick answer! I guess that may be the only way. I was hoping for more of a programmable way of doing it. But, I think your spot on. There probably isn't a way to do it without busting into it a little. It's an over the range model so will have to look and see if I can easily dissamble and can do so without interrupting any of the shielding qualities. I'll go ponder that. Thanks

With your idea of manually altering the speaker in mind, I was easily able to expose the cb panel with just a few screws (screws that you would normally take off to replace the filter). I put a little glue in the hole and plugged it up. Beeping noise is now 50-60% less. I can live with this volume level. Thanks for awesome advice!

I've got a Honda Civic hybrid with the same noisy beeper. I can't have the parking lights on and the door open. I can't leave the key in the switch while making a phone call etc. I think we have to presume that like the Honda, there is no software controlled override on you microwave beeper... they know best and want you to feel safe and secure that no burglar will be able to make a cup-o-soup in your kitchen without waking you. A few screws and you should be able to expose the main circuit board and apply a layer of bubble gum or silicone caulk or JB Weld to the beeping device. Most have a small hole in a black plastic cylinder... so cover the hole and then test for loudness. For absolute silence, desolder the device from the circuit board and replace with a resistor matching the amount you measure across the beeper contacts with an ohm meter.

If you get good results be sure to document the process and pass it on to benefit the hearing impaired who may want a light bulb installed to replace the beeper.

That's a problem on the circuit board which can be repaired simply and inexpensively.

The SE indicates a short in the keypad membrane, but to cure this! the whole keypad control board should be changed if effort to resolve is decided, I would also suggest checking the pricing.

Kenmore 721 microwave fan turns on by itself

I have the exact same problem with my Kenmore Microwave model 721 that we bought in October of 2005. The Fan will just randomly turn itself on even when we are not cooking. It has been doing this for the last few months and is starting to become more frequent. There is no way to turn it off except to unplug it for several hours.
Was there a recall for this defect ?

Disabling the beep on a Kenmore microwave

I have Kenmore microwave model 721.61820100.
It has an "Option" button. Press it. The display say "NUMBER"
Then press "1". The display should say "SOUND" and then "OFF".
Press "Start" and that beast turns silent, well not really, but the beeps are goooone.

If for some reason you don't like it this way repeat the sequence and the sound this time will turn "ON".

Turntable doesn't turn

If you just purchased and Installed the microwave, I would call Sears and tell them what is happening, generally, it would still be under warranty if less than a year old. If its a countertop model, you may have to take it in, otherwise they should come to the home for the repair. I would also NOT indicate that you have looked at it as that would void your warranty.
Otherwise, it seems like the problem could be, a) touchpad , b) a relay or c) the main control board
