VHS tape was playing . After stoping does not play. Other tape will play

VHS tape was playing . After stoping does not play. Cassete will rewind and fast forward but will not play video. Other tapes work fine in same machine. I do not feel it is the machine but the cassete yet it will rewind and fast forward.
The counter does not show like the other tapes when playing or rewinding but does rewind or fast forward.
Why does't the video pick up?

Any ideas will be a great help .

Thanks. [email protected]

The idler wheel (that only drives the tape in play or scan modes) is slipping too much (very common problem). Try verify this by putting the tape in play then immediately press the fast fwd or rewind buttons to scan the tape. On older machines, the idlers used rubber friction tires - on newer ones, a clutch. Either replace the tire or increase the spring tension on the clutch.
