Replacement Cost Information For Damaged Washer & Dryer

We recently moved & our washing machine & dryer were damaged in the move. The moving company needs the PURCHASE price & suggested REPLACEMENT costs for them.

I have searched for info. & none found on the internet. Also, the information is unkown at Kenmore since they are out-dated.

Do you have any suggestions as to how I can find out this information?

Hi elclarkjr - First, have you recently clean the lint screen/filter? Also check that the power cord is not damaged. Otherwise the dryer may possibly be experiencing more serious issues like; a wiring failure, faulty control board, thermal limiter, or defective door switch that only a professional can repair. I personally recommend consulting a service provider for a proper diagnosis and to move forward accurately.

We moved our Kenmore stacked washer/dryer from downstairs to upstairs - now it will not work. any ideas?

If the dryer didn't get banged around or damaged when you moved it, it sounds like it might be a power issue. Is the outlet where the dryer plugged into controlled by a switch? If so, make sure the switch is on. Is it on an electrical circuit with any other large devices (air conditioning unit, refrigerator, etc.)? If so, the dryer probably isn't getting enough power. Try plugging it in somewhere else, on a different circuit (using an extension cord to test it, if you don't want to move it until you're sure) to see if that makes a difference.

Water is leaking out of the washer when it is filled up

if it leaks only when full, not moving, may be crack in drum, specialy if plastic. if leaking while running, could be a loose hose clamp or damaged hose. also make sure you are not using to much soap, in compact units it will bubble over the drum

Once dryer starts the gas will burn for a while then go out and does not restart. if you stop the dryer and let it set for a while it will restart and dry the clothes. also if the gas is not on the timer...

HI, this is a defective timer control module. replacing this failed component will fix this issue. the timer is responsible for initiating the heating cycle. If the timer motor mech is damaged and not moving, it will not dry properly. replacing the timer will fix this issue you are having at this time.

Noisy dryer

i had same problem with washing machine. i found out it was the stone inside which holds it down while it spins. The screws or nuts or what ever is holding the stone could be loose.

Or it could be the nuts or screws of the actual drum that spins that got loose when you moved the machine

Avanti 798SS: Unbalanced spin, tears itself apart. The top ring assembly XQB550.3.2 Balance Ring and outer tub have worn holes in each other, creating shards that further damage them during spin. Questions: 1. Is this a common situation with Avanti? The machine dates back to 2010. Will the newer model have the same problem? 2. Should the Balance Ring be perfectly balanced? The patch area is still hollow, but surfaced with epoxy, and that side of the ring is about 6 oz heavier than the other side resting on using a kitchen scale. 3. There is a permanently sealed plug on the top of the balance ring. What is its purpose? I pried/broke it off for inspection inside. All I can figure is that it is part of the plastic molding process wax removal?, or is where a liquid or sand was injected for balance, which escaped when the ring wore a hole in itself. 4. From another answer here, I gather that the ring should be filled with fluid and resealed. If so, how far to fill? Halfway? Filling completely would seem to defeat the purpose of a stabilizing fluid. 5. The repair manual says that the tubs can be removed after removing the 36mm center nut, which I have done. But there seems to be another nut that the large nut screws onto, and that additional nut needs to be removed. In fact, it has four flat sides, suggesting that it should be, but it won't budge. The top nut was almost impossible to remove, but after a good overnight soak with penetrating oil and WD-40, it finally gave way. Now it come off and torques down like butter. I can keep trying this lower nut, but first need to know if it actually needs removal. I've been able to remove the Balance Ring by accessing the screws through a small hole made in the outer tub which I then plug, so I don't really need to remove the tubs except for inspection. Insights anyone?
