I keep hearing that the flash unit needs to be replaced. I have the same problem with my SD550 and when I shake the camera, I can hear something loose. When I took it apart, I noticed that the sound is coming from the flash so I assume something in there is broken.

Now if I can find a place that sells these replacement parts, I can fix it but no one seems to sell this part.

DSC H-5 the flash pops up but does not flash, camera is set to automatic mode and flash is turned on.

Flash pops up shows that flash release mechanism is working as camera wants to flash.
There are 3 thick wires connecting between flash bulb and flash charging circuit in camera, one of thick wire seems internally broken and causing problem.
Camera will be apart to check wires.
Let me know, if you are willing to apart camera, for further help.
Thanks.

Camera fails to flash every time we take a picture

1.Turn off the camera.
2.Install a set of new or fully charged batteries into the camera. then turn it ON
3.Press the Flash Status button to scroll through the flash options until Fill Flash (the lightning bolt icon alone, with no other letter or symbol) is displayed. This forces the camera to use the flash. a86196b.jpg
4.Take a picture. [If flash still doesn't work contact Kodak support line 1 800 235 6325 (23KODAK)]

When connected to the camera, the flash will not recognize the camera or the camera will not recognize the flash. How do I correct this problem?

First make sure that your flash is DESIGNED to work with a digital camera. A flash that was designed to work with a 35mm camera will not work with a digital camera.

Are there any settings on the camera that must be set before you can use the external flash feature?

Yes, set the camera mode dial to P, A/S/M or any shooting mode except the movie mode. Turn on the extension flash unit's power then select the camera's flash mode. The flash mode button on the camera controls the built-in flash as well as the extension flash. Only the built-in flash and the Olympus FL-40 extension flash can use the red-eye reduction flash mode. All flash units can use the fill flash, flash off, and slow-sync flash modes.
